Talk:Newsreader (Usenet)

Types of Clients edit

The classification of clients is now based only on support for binary attachments, which is wierd, as binary attachments are controversal. Users of traditional newsreaders will certainly find it an offense that their newsreader is put in the same category as poor combined mail and newsreader clients.

Ability to correctly parse threads, good kill files or scoring, making it easy to follow netiquette etc. are certainly more important for many usenet users.

Correct. In fact, the article as a whole (small as it is) makes it seem as if Usenet is primarily a warez network. I find that very hard to believe. JöG (talk) 22:04, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Article title edit

This type of program is more commonly called "newsreader" instead of "news client", see 329,000 vs. 4,450 Google Groups hits. I guess the article should be moved to Newsreader (Usenet), since there is already a disambiguation page at Newsreader. -- memset (talk) 09:48, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Added tags edit

This article is in severe need of rewriting and expansion. I have added the verifiability and wikify tags, but really much more than that is needed. Is anyone interested in helping me rewrite, expand, and reference this article? DQweny (talk) 01:54, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
