Talk:New Zealand Motor Corporation

Rename? edit

This page would be better called "New Zealand Motor Corporation", as (like its parents BMC and BLMC) the "C" was always referred to in daily usage. No one in NZ would what know what "New Zealand Motor" was, but many would well remember "New Zealand Motor Corporation" or " NZMC". Tartanperil 12:15, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image captions edit

Image captions should accurately describe what is depicted, so the description is not 'wholly superfluous', but accurate. The image is primarily of a sticker, the Honda is just the background. This is a 1982 Honda Accord. The editor who uploaded it seemingly agreed, naming the file '1982 New Zealand Motor Corporation Sticker jpg'.

In the same way that this is a Auckland Airport while this is Boeing 787 at Auckland Airport. Wentoung (talk) 02:46, 17 April 2019 (UTC)1Reply

The subject of the image is very clear. So clear it really needs no caption. Images of logos and the name of corporations in their style of text are copyright. By adding the name of the car in the image I hope we may avoid having it removed as breach of copyright. I will accept you are well-meaning in your edits but you should try to get as much experience as you can. Eddaido (talk) 02:58, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Agreed, it probably does not need a caption. Wentoung (talk) 03:02, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Honda edit

This sentence is verbose: The Honda Motor Co (Japan) began acquiring the Honda assets from NZMC in the mid-1980s, first acquiring a 25 per cent stake in 1985. No need to state it started acquiring in the mid-1980s, acquiring its first stake in 1985. It is better to get to the point along the lines of: The Honda Motor Co (Japan) acquired the Honda assets from NZMC, purchasing an initial 25 per cent stake in 1985. You are making the mistake of making something clear when it is Not. Eddaido (talk) 02:58, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
For mine, it is perfectly clear. As neither of us are likely to be convince the other, should we seek a third opinion? Wentoung (talk) 03:33, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Your revision is factually incorrect. Do I have to tell you absolutely everything? Eddaido (talk) 07:38, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Can you please elaborate (on the first sentence, I am on top of the fact that you are just being patronising with the second)? Wentoung (talk) 22:32, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Rolls-Royce in lead edit

Why the need to indiscriminately include Rolls-Royce in the lead? It was unlikely to have been very small in output compared to the other marques? Wentoung (talk) 03:37, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Why are you so determined to edit war? Eddaido (talk) 09:02, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
You asked me to take it to the talk page which I did, so perhaps you could reply? Wentoung (talk) 06:25, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Why do you try to edit articles when you know so little about the subject? Eddaido (talk) 07:34, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Again can you please respond to the question, the patronising isn't really helping to move the discussion forward. Wentoung (talk) 22:34, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Abbrevation edit

Is there any valid reason not to use the normal format of after the first mention of New Zealand Motor Corporation, reverting to the abbreviation? That is the way many articles are written Precedent to do so has already been set in this edit on the same subject. Any reason for the difference? Wentoung (talk) 06:23, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Why do you connect the two articles? Eddaido (talk) 07:37, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Can you please elaborate rather than just give a one word response? You thought it appropriate to introduce the NZMC accronym into the Automotive industry in New Zealand article, yet you object to it being used in this article? Any reason why? Wentoung (talk) 22:38, 25 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Patronising edit

It is difficult to deal otherwise with someone who has such a very brief record of editing WP and makes your kind of edit. Eddaido (talk) 09:37, 26 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Or someone who is just plain obtuse. But won't be a problem going forward. Wentoung (talk) 04:40, 1 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
