Talk:New Zealand Defence Force

Foreign defence relations edit

This section needs updating. Adding the signing of the Wellington and Washington Declarations (2010-2012). Returning to formal military relations and resumed normal activities, Including NZDF/US Exercises ie; Rimpac, and even inviting the US Southern Katipo and Alam Halfia etc. It was decided after the US watched how New Zealand responded to various incidents, Boungvillie, East Timor and New Zealand's actions in Afganistan etc to just work together and work around our differences.

2016 USS Sampson visited for the RNZN 75th anniversary, although diverted to help with the Kaikoura earthquake. NZDF has been fully at RimPac since 2012, and been involved in other training exercises in the US. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2406:5A00:D8C4:6800:A04A:BA88:DFE9:D419 (talk) 02:50, 18 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Outdated Page edit

This page is completely outdated. It claims that the New Zealand National party is the "main opposition" of the government. I suggest it be updated, considering the National Party is now in power. DonutGuy (talk) 20:41, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Organisation History edit

Would it be better to keep this under this article or separate it into its own? What are peoples thoughts? NealeFamily (talk) 07:33, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'd suggest a new article Nick-D (talk) 10:24, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Updated spending & troop numbers (October 2018) edit

This page could do with a lot more love. For now I've updated what was the very out of date defence spending and troop numbers, but a look-over for the page in general from experienced Wikipedians would be awesome. — Expansewalker (talk) 14:13, 1 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

New Logo? edit

With the release of the annual report for 2018 I was hoping to hear from other users about updating the current tri-service logo to a higher res image or possibly the newer logo featured on the report cover as seen here.

A Samoan news site has a well detailed Defence Force logo which includes the coat of arms and correct image type with .png transparency, see here. It lacks the tri-service logos underneath but as the page is focused on the Defence Force as a whole I think a larger/high-res coat of arms with relevant text would be more suitable. And of course the NZ Defence website as well as many recent documents are utilizing the ubiquitous kiwi logo which has both white and black variants, white one featured here. I would welcome any discussion on this. —Expansewalker (talk) 14:46, 20 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Andrew Little no longer the current defence minister? edit

Andrew is nonincumbent. Who is the current defence minister? Winston Peters!? 125.238.84.60 (talk) 09:47, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

A new government has yet to be formed. Until then, and without any unusualities, I imagine Little will remain Minister of Defence. Feel free to update this page and that one when you hear the new announcements. — HTGS (talk) 05:43, 12 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
