Route 17/I 86 Concurrency

Again, somebody is stating as fact the so called truncation of NY 17 after the completion of I86 - with zero proof! The actual PHYSICAL evidence seems to indicate just the opposite! For example, the major project upgrading sections of 17 in Orange County ALL include both I86 AND NY 17 markers on both reassurance and directional signs being erected. I stated this on the discussion page of NY !7, and I will state it here - some for odd reason, all these 'road nuts' are ready to write off NY 17!

Old routebox discussion

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the (NT)/(ST)/(ET)/(WT) designations were supposed to be used only for the termini of the article's subject (in this case, Route 5). Instead, in this routebox they're being used to designate that a particular crossing road ends at Route 5. I thought that was supposed to be designated with bold text. US 20 duplex in junction box

Would someone please correct the Eastern US 20 junction box info — Wiki isn't cooperating. Michael 00:34, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Fixed. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 01:05, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Why would we need to edit it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Spoon45 (talkcontribs) 22:24, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Route Description

Can someone add more information about the route description? I wrote a ton of info about the duplex with US 20, but I don't know about anything west of Avon and very little east of Chittenango.

I did some work on in the Syracuse section. But I'll see if I can expand it a little bit more. -- JA10 T · C 14:26, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Skyway?

The result of the proposal was merge. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 15:00, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Isn't the Skyway in Buffalo part of route 5? It seems odd that this limited-access portion of the route isn't mentioned at all in the article. --Jfruh (talk) 14:56, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, there's a separate (and very stubby) article at Skyway (Buffalo). I'll put on some merger templates, let's see if that sticks... --Jfruh (talk) 14:59, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

5 & 20

Have you ever noticed that everyone calls it 5 & 20 but the signs are always presented 20 & 5. Kingturtle (talk) 18:00, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually, people do call them 20 & 5 in the 2nd overlap area. --72.225.50.116 (talk) 22:49, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

EXPY?

I could of sworn that 5 comes into the downtown vicinity of Buffalo as an expressway. But in the Major Intersections section there is NO listings of any exit #'s what so ever. And I could of sworn that 5 overlaps the expressway of 8 & 12 via I-790. Sometime in the Utica vicinty. There's no exit #'s for them either.

Either 5's never overlaping or being a expy. Or I'm crazy.

While 5 does enter Buffalo from the West as the Skyway, there are no exits of note in this area besides the interchange with I-190 - all other "exits" are handled by Fuhrman Blvd. →ClarkCTTalk @ 04:41, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

What about 5 when it's an Expressway?

I noticed there is no article with the "Skyway" exits...they should be included in here. And what about 5 when it over laps 12&8 and I-790? Where are those located? I don't see them on the pages for those highways~well maybe the I-790 ones are in that article but.....

Macadam

The assertion "The western extension of the Genesee Road to Buffalo soon followed suit and also became an improved Macadam toll road,[20] the Ontario and Genesee Turnpike, in 1805." seems to contradict the Macadam article: "As Surveyor-General of roads for the Bristol Turnpike in 1816, McAdam first put his ideas about road construction into major practice" ("McAdam's background") and "Construction of the first macadamized road in the United States (1823)" (caption on picture) . 128.230.72.98 (talk) 17:55, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
