The length of New Malden High Street

edit

The High Street ends under the railway bridges; the street names, two on each side of the road, can easily be seen both in situ and in Google Street View. Google confirms that The Glasshouse is in Coombe Road. Moreover, somewhere in https://www6.kingston.gov.uk/CRMMapping/ (which has the authority of the Ordnance Survey) confirms that the road in which the late petrol station sits is Coombe Road. Go and look. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 11:51, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

This article is about the shopping area, not the road.--Launchballer 12:04, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Read the title of the article and its first sentence. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 19:59, 18 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

References

edit

The current Reference 5, to Surreycraftfairs, is useless. It does not appear to refer to New Malden or to the Fountain - and, as that site seems to think that Builth Wells is in Surrey, it is manifestly unreliable. Can it be replaced? Moreover, I doubt whether the horses actually drank from the fountain. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 10:00, 19 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Someone has been reverting my edits withour checking the facts, and without heeding the paragraph above. For example, according to Google, the site www.surreycraftfairs.co.uk contains none of the three words 'Malden' 'fountain' 'roundabout', so it cannot support the sentence that it has been linked to. And the length of the High Street was reverted to include at least part of Coombe Road, in spite of the Article section correctly describing the northern end of the High Street. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 21:40, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

http://www.pmsa.org.uk/pmsa-database/4129/ is a better reference, but does not support the current text. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 10:14, 19 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Fountain history

edit

Fountain dates &c are being taken from local historian in Village Voice magazine, May 2010 & Jun 2012 94.30.84.71 (talk) 22:10, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Kingston Council are suggesting the removal of the Roundabout and the Fountain, replacing the latter with something, somewhere, perhaps. See http://consult.kingston.gov.uk/portal/planning/go/consultations_summer_2016/go_cycle_-_fountain_roundabout_new_malden . 94.30.84.71 (talk) 21:13, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is not the news. If it actually happens it will be worth including.Charles (talk) 10:26, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Malden Fortnight

edit

"Malden Fortnight" has been marked "citation needed". That seems inappropriate; unnecessary citations add clutter. Those of us who live here know about it, and Google will find http://www.maldenfortnight.com/ for those who need details. 94.30.84.71 (talk) 21:57, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Provide a citation then. Local knowledge mean nothing without published sources. See WP:Citing sources.Charles (talk) 10:24, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
