State Street Station (New Haven)New Haven State Street station – Per WP:USSTATION. While sources vary on whether New Haven is included in the name, the signage includes it and so do reports such as the "New Haven-Hartford Springfield Rail Service Gateway to New England." News articles lead with "New Haven State Street" before falling back on "State Street station", with varying capitalization of station. Note that State Street station is ambiguous with stations in Chicago and Boston. Mackensen (talk) 16:00, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you. It is also listed on Metro North timetables and maps.

Support: My only question would be whether the name should include the hyphen since this is the way Metro North shows the station name on their web site and the station signage. See [1] and then select "New Haven-State Street". FFM784 (talk) 17:55, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. Seems reasonable, as the form "New Haven State Street"/"New Haven-State Street"/"New Haven's State Street"/etc. seem to be well used,[2][3] making it suitable natural disambiguation. It seems that the hyphen isn't totally consistent, so barring evidence to the contrary I'd say we should avoid it.--Cúchullain t/c 20:37, 2 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Springfield trivia in the lede edit

What's the point of having the exact same text in the lede and in the article? I agree it belongs under Service of course, but it's useless repetition for it to be in both places. The lede should be more like Union Station (New Haven) and talk about the station itself. Markvs88 (talk) 13:18, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've edited the lede and service section to streamline the lede and move more details into the service section. I'll be doing more expansion in a few weeks when I upload some photos. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:00, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Pi! For style I've removed a single Springfield entry as it would get quite messy to say "Grand Central Terminal-terminating" "Boston-terminating", "New London and/or Stamford-terminating" etc. Markvs88 (talk)
I've restored that text - the Northeast Regional is the only of the services that has multiple branches, and only one branch stops at State Street. That's why "Springfield-terminating" is necessary. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 01:41, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I see your point. Thanks, Markvs88 (talk) 13:46, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
