i think that the image is not the correct building; it seems to me that it could not have been built in the 1930's; see tufts image: https://dl.tufts.edu/concern/images/k0698h84z for what i think is the right building;

"Description Street-level view north of the southwest corner of the New England Mutual Life Insurance Building, located at 501 Boylston Street. The facade of the building faces southeast towards Boylston Street. Clock faces and a lantern adorn the building's tower.
