Contested deletion

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because, as the very second sentence in the article states, it's an article about the oldest regional business association in the United States. That alone contradicts any notion that this article does not meet CSD A7. Moreover, the organization has existed for nearly a century, and over the years has had thousands of participants. It has headquarters in both Boston and Washington, D.C. It has hundreds of members, including private and public organizations, as well as individuals.

A simple Google News search for "new england council" shows as many as 1,030 results, and that only accounts for recent news. Given time, this article could obviously be expanded to include much more information and many secondary sources. However, that is not the job of any one particular Wikipedia user, and should be allowed to happen naturally -- requests for speedy deletion should not be used to remove stubs.

In short, this request for speedy deletion is a nuisance. --TimothyDexter (talk) 21:19, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
