BioNB424 Neuroethology Discussion

edit

Here is an area where we can try to coordinate our edits to the Neuroethology wikipedia article. Please try to use this to work out any differences in opinion over edits so that people have a sense of what our line of thinking was. Cheers, Jasongallant 16:04, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

For the history section, should it be broken up into "Ethology" and "Neurophysiology?" Additionally, how much background on the notable ethologists/neurophysiologists is relevant and necessary? Serpentnirvana 23:32, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree- I think that the history section could be broken down that way. As for background on particular people, I think brief mention on them would be good, and perhaps creation of a [WP:STUB | Stub] for these people might be a good idea. Perhaps they will be filled in by others from the class or ambitious wikipedians?

We now have a Neuroethology Project Page! Feel free to check it out! Jasongallant 19:42, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is there a separate place where Prof. Hopkins said we should put our reasons for editing certain things, etc? Thanks, and great job, Jason, with putting the other WikiProject page together, though some of the links are not functioning. Bibliakim 05:11, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

When Prof. Hopkins says "add this" to a certain section; i.e. the intro paragraph, does that mean to replace the whole paragraph or try to incorporate my version into what's there already? Please let me know. Thanks. discclaimer 14:07, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to make sure that I could do this. I added the new technology section. Katdonov (talk) 03:18, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Zoology Banner

edit

18 November 2009: It seems to me that the large banner devoted to Zoology is inappropriate on the Neuroethology page. One could argue that Neuroethology is a subset of Neuroscience, which includes psychology, neurobiology, linguistics, congnitive science, and neurology, rather than a subset of zoology. For that reason, I moved the large Zoology logo, which was something of a distractor, to the bottom of the page. Instead I replaced it with an image of an echolocating bat, which is more symbolic of one of the field of Neuroethology.

Perhaps by convention, the Zoology series pages always have the banner at the top of the page. In that case, would it be possible to remove the banner altogether and simply add a link to the Zoology pages? User:cdh8

Ethology banner

edit

Should the Ethology banner be moved to the lead image? I feel it is more representative of Neoroethology than the echo-locating bat image, but did not want to change the image without discussion because it has been there for so long.__DrChrissy (talk) 20:35, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Differences between Behavioral Neurobiology and Neuroethology?

edit

This sort of violates WP:FORUM so make responses short and sweet, please. :) My guess is the difference is moot and tied up in technicalities. See Talk:Behavioral neuroscience#Differences between Behavioral Neurobiology and Neuroethology?. <----
