Don't delete, redirect

Instead of deleting the article, why not just redirect to Tracfone and move the text to a subcategory under tracfone. They are the same company, and carrier. They use the same customer service, and the phones are identical. The only difference is once a phone card is programed into a phone for the first time, it gets put on a "Rate Plan" for either net10 or tracfone, and the minutes get used up differently, and it is called a different brand. 72.150.67.150 13:33, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

PAYG definition is arbitrary, arguably not NPOV

The definition of PAYG is subjective. I know of no system that allows unlimited non-use of a service without penalties. In most cases, the US PAYG services are somewhat more extreme than, say, European offerings, but something no less than "You must make at least one paid-for outgoing call every year" is usually a condition of the service, in my experience.

Net10 is a pay as you go service, with fast minute expiry. It might be better to replace this paragraph with a more neutral one comparing the expirations with those of US competitors. Cingular GoPhone PAYG, for instance, generally allows 3-6 months. T-Mobile allows top-ups to be a year apart, as long as the customer has made at least one top-up of $100 in the lifetime of the account (other ways to qualify also apply. Note it only happens once, you don't have to put in $100 every year.)

i disagree. for one, Net 10 uses GSM while TracFone uses CDMA. Net10 is the GSM counter-part of TracFone. (correct me if I'm wrong).

Also, Tracfone uses a multitude of companies (app. 30) of which it operates as an MVNO (including cingular, t-mobile, sprint nextel, and US Cellular). Net 10 only uses Cingular & T-Mobile (america's two main GSM providers)

even if Net10 is owned by tracfone, its still a seperate company and deserves its own page. also, the claim that they use the same phones and rebrand them is false, just look at their websites. tracfone has many more phones available as well.

Tracfone is not a different company. Tracfone has more phones because that brand, or "rate plan" has been around longer. They have to support the older phones. Look at thier newer phones of both company's. They are all the same. I have called one customer service and been able to service both services with the same CSR.

As far as its MVNO operation goes, Tracfone uses Sprint, Verizon, and USCC for its older service. (They never used Nextel. The only nextel MVNO is Boost Mobile) This is because when Tracfone first came out they were analog only. When they transitioned to Digital they stayed with the same companies, and used thier CDMA service. They made the transition to Cingular and T-mo when they transitioned to GSM, with the launch of Net 10. They still support thier CDMA phones because it is cheaper to do so then to subsadise more phones. They will be, if not already phasing out what little TDMA service they offered. But when it comes down to it, Net 10 and Tracfone (GSM) use the same billing systems and everything. (I am the same unsigned user that proposed to redirect) 72.150.85.94 13:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
