Talk:Nest Thermostat

Note regarding sources edit

Many of the sources are from nonRS like amazon.com, Nest.com or Nest support, but most of those are for backing up the technical specs. As the NLT is not new, it has generated multiple pages on GNews of various mentions and comparisons. I am trying to find and add another 2 proper news sources to the article just to improve the scope of the sourcing. L3X1 (distænt write) )evidence( 16:10, 5 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Outdated information edit

The Nest thermostat software starting with 4.0 allows you to select country so the Availability section needs cleaned up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saulinpa (talkcontribs) 01:11, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Nest learning thermostatNest Learning Thermostat – "Nest Learning Thermostat" is an official product name, should use title capitalisation instead. Wefk423 (talk) 11:20, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

This is a contested technical request (permalink).  — Amakuru (talk) 12:20, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. WP is traditionally strongly against anything that isn't simple sentence case in titles. We might yet decide to do this, but it's beyond a simple technical move. Andy Dingley (talk) 11:33, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
    • @Andy Dingley: I understand your standpoint on this policy. But since this is a product, I do believe that this article can be used with a capitalisation title. ~ Cheers, Wefk423 (talk) 02:31, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. This is a reversal of a recent undiscussed move and could have been moved as a technical request. Nest Learning Thermostat is unquestionably a proper name, so should be capitalized per WP:NCCAPS. - Station1 (talk) 02:50, 18 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. This is the proper name of a specific product, not a description of a class of products.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  19:16, 19 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Add picture of devices. edit

The photos for models just show the base plates. Should we add the actual thermostats themselves? 12.50.8.8 (talk) 21:47, 24 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

This is out-of-date now with launch of "Nest Thermostat" (non-learning) edit

Products are Talk:Nest Learning Thermostat (1st-3rd gens), Nest Thermostat E, and Nest Thermostat. Need to clarify in "Generation" column.

New one is not "Learning" so how to handle? Saulinpa (talk) 21:32, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Screen size confusing edit

In the table "screen size" is being confused with the overall size of the Nest thermostat. There is the LCD size (actual display), the screen size (glass to edge), and the case size (outer measurment). Which makes sense to show? Or list all? Saulinpa (talk) 18:21, 5 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Nest Learning ThermostatNest Thermostat – Only one of the two Nest Thermostats currently produced is branded as a "Nest Learning Thermostat." The 2020 Nest Thermostat and the former 2017 Nest Thermostat E skip the former naming convention. This is now a family of products with the 2015 3rd gen Nest Learning Thermostat as flagship.
