Talk:Nemalion

It seems to me the first three lines are irrelevant- but I do not have the confidence to delete them! Please help or do what you the best. Osborne 15:07, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

This file would be better changed from "Nemalion" to "Nemalion helminthoides" as I withdrew the information concerning the species and not just the genus. How do I, (or whoever helps) change the title?Osborne 16:17, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

I rather don't think getting rid of the article on the genus is a good idea. If there's one species within the genus that's notable enough for an article of its own, we should have that, at Nemalion helminthoides, in addition to the article on the genus. Do the sources only discuss this one species? A key to the genera of the British Seaweeds, at least, sounds as if it should discuss the genus as a whole. Huon (talk) 20:25, 20 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Osborne: in case you haven't seen this. I second Huon; I think it would be much more useful to split off the species-specific info to a separate article, and leave this article, especially if what Huon says about how the source discusses the entire genus is correct. Thanks. Further help! There is doubt in the literature as to whether there are two or only one species in the British Isles! My writing, possibly, in error? refers mainly to one species and not to the genera as a whole. All my records and information refers only to Nemalion helminthoides. How do I split the genus from the full species when most of the information refers only to the one species?Osborne 15:10, 21 June 2017 (UTC) As the details on distribution, description and habitat were based on knowledge of only one species the details have been edited out now.Osborne 19:16, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
