I question the assertion: "Miles was the only man to have served as a commander in the Civil War, the Indian Wars, and the Spanish-American War." Commander of what? I can think off the top of my head of several generals who served in all three wars, most notably Wesley Merritt, who was a corps commander in the ACW, colonel of a cavalry regiment during the Indian Wars, and was initially the ground commander for the invasion of the Philippines during the Spanish-American War. "Commander" can indeed be a vague term...but I cannot think of "several generals who served in all 3 wars". At least not as generals... Merritt aside, Joe Wheeler is the only one I can think of to serve as a General in both the Civil War and the Spanish-American War. In every book I've read about the Indian Wars, the subject's name is Nelson A. Miles. I'm not sure why it's spelled "M-Y-L-E-S" in this article. 2603:7080:4DF0:940:DDE0:72FD:5102:D98D (talk) 13:47, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I corrected "Myles" to "Miles" in all instances. I don't edit Wikipedia much, so I apologize if I jumped the gun here. But, like I said in my edit explanation, this correction seems well supported both by the article's own references and by many authoritative sources that come up in a Google search.
