The fact that the list tends to de-emphasize German speakers (like Mendel) and Jews (like Kafka) who are much better known to the world than people like Werich and Nemcova (let alone Karel Gott) is probably noteworthy. I know there was some discussion, at least online, during the vote about issues of nationality. Should such issues be mentioned here? Those issues can only be mentioned if there are sources discussing them -- we can't be making our own unsourced analysis. -- Mwalcoff 23:46, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- I remeber only serious discussion (it was in TV) about nationality (and whether he spoke czech) of King Charles IV . By the way the other title was "We search for greatest celebrity of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia ". --Li-sung 08:02, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
- It is not really noteworthy. Kafka or Mendel didn't have that great influence on czech society in their time, and most people don't learn about them in schools. At the same time they are often reminded of greatness of Karel IV, who was by the way german emperor and of half-french origin.
