Orphaned references in Naval Battle of Campeche edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Naval Battle of Campeche's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Handbook of Texas":

  • From Texan brig Wharton: Cutrer, Thomas. "Wharton". Handbook of Texas Online. Texas State Historical Association. Retrieved 2007-11-24.
  • From Texan sloop-of-war Austin: "Austin". Handbook of Texas Online. Texas State Historical Association. Retrieved 2007-11-02.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 08:17, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Strategic victory for which side? edit

The Wikipedia entry for the Texas Navy calls this battle "a tactical draw, but a strategic victory for the Texan Navy" while here it is called a strategic victory for the Mexican side. Tupelo the typo fixer (talk) 10:03, 11 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

I wrote the second claim. But I have no reference. Sorry to make that up.
In my defense, the Battle was result of Naval Blockade of Campeche. So, Federal Mexican objective was to keep the blockade and Texan-Yucatecan objective was to relieve them. With Mexican Navy withdrawn and naval blockade lifted, I think that constitute in 'strategic victory'. Kindlydude (talk) 08:35, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sorry to necro but the closest thing to what I wrote is "a Texian-Yucatecan tactical draw; a strategic victory." What I mean is "a Texian-Yucatecan tactical draw; a [Texian-Yucatecan(, not Mexican)] strategic victory."
It seems I wrote it badly. You misunderstood what I mean, And I misred your complain. Kindlydude (talk) 08:15, 1 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
