Meaning of "reserve" edit
It would be super cool - even useful - if this article explained what a "reserve" is. It's in no way self-evident. For instance, in Canada, a reserve is a territory where indigenous people of a particular tribal nation have authority and residence. In the US there are nature "preserves" where wilderness is protected from industry and habitation. Is a NZ reserve like a US nature preserve? Do tell. Pinkville (talk) 23:14, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- The article Nature reserve is helpful, but a national reserve needn’t have anything to do with nature. Hopefully the lead, now defining it as an “area” is slightly more helpful? I’m not sure whether the concept of reserved land needs its own article. I think the most universal synonym for what New Zealanders mean by reserve would be something like a park. — HTGS (talk) 08:07, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
