Regarding the theater becoming twin cinemas in 1951: The National was still a theater as of 1952. Perhaps it also acted as a cinema at the time? But I was researching something else and came across this reference in Playbill: https://www.playbill.com/production/candida-national-theatre-vault-0000002792 . Between April and May 1952, a performance of Candida starring Olivia de Havilland was put on at The National. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AccidentalHistorian (talkcontribs) 02:36, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
