Quality issues edit

I've demoted this back to start class because length of an article doesn't equate to quality.

  • The Cities section should be removed and replaced with a written (prose) account of the route of that the highway follows. That should then be sourced to reliable maps, guide books and other sources. This is generally titled "Route description" for a heading name.
  • The Services section needs to be recrafted because Wikipedia is not a tour guide. The locations of the toll booths can be included in the junction list table. (See MOS:RJL.)
  • A lot of the information of the Road conditions section should be in a proper Route description section.
  • Details from the Management section should be either in the RD section, or the History. For an example, the agency or agencies that maintain a road are listed with other meta details in the RD of U.S. Route 131. Historical changes related to those facts are typically part of the history section.
  • The Transit section isn't needed.
    • Speed limits, which as statistics need sources, can be listed in the RD section.
    • Ditto the traffic counts, which doesn't need a full explanation on how the numbers are calculated. We have the annual average daily traffic article to explain in greater detail. Sources are needed for the specific numbers listed. Look at the US 131 article linked above to see how I wove the traffic counts into the RD section, or M-14 (Michigan highway) for a method that lists them in a meta paragraph at the end of that section.
  • All of the geography stuff should be in the RD section. Again, describe the route of the roadway from one end to the other. Note what a hypothetical driver would see and experience if he went from end to end, all backed to reliable sources.
  • Tourism information also belongs in the RD section, but be careful. We aren't a tour guide here, but an encyclopedia. Imzadi 1979  20:31, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
