Talk:National Register of Historic Places listings in San Diego County, California

Gilbough House edit

Gilbough House was in the old-style WP NRHP list but is not in the current table. I found no online sources to indicate that this site is on the National Register. Feel free to add it to the table if you find documentation that it is on the official NPS list. --sanfranman59 (talk) 05:51, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rosecroft edit

One of the properties in San Diego is Rosecroft. The address listed is: 530 Sivergate Ave. Is that correct? Should it be Silvergate? Jeffrey Beall (talk) 22:16, 30 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are right, it should be Silvergate Ave. Good catch! I'll fix it. Rosecroft was once a famous begonia garden, open to the public. It has been replaced by homes, and the only thing that remains of Rosecroft Gardens now is a distinctive stone wall. --MelanieN (talk) 16:17, 31 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Help Identifying the Pythias Lodge Building and the Robert E. Lee Hotel edit

On a recent visit to San Diego, I was unable to identify two structures listed here on the NRHP. They were the Pythias Lodge Building and the Robert E. Lee Hotel.

Both are located in the redeveloped area of the Horton shopping center, where buildings either lack numbering or may have changed numbering. I currently have pictures of three candidate buildings listed on my Flickr account. Can you identify one of the three pictures as either of the two buildings I could not find or identify?

one two three

Thanks, Jeffrey Beall (talk) 13:04, 19 January 2011 (UTC).Reply

Based only on Pythias Lodge Building (San Diego, California) being described as being Beaux Arts architecture, i would guess it is number 2 out of the pics you provide, which looks possibly like that style to me while the other 2 do not. The NRHP nomination documents include accompanying photos which would make it clear. They can be obtained for free by email request to the National Register, to be sent by email if available in scanned form or to be sent by postal mail (also at no charge) otherwise. See wp:NRHPhelp for email address. Thanks for taking the pics! Oh, i am seeing now u r user:denverjeffrey, u've added lots of pics elsewhere. Thanks for contributing here, too! --doncram 13:47, 19 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Robert E Lee Hotel edit

If the Hotel has been demolished then shouldn't it have been removed from the National Register? I checked the register and it still has it as active, maybe there is a way to contact them to have it removed since the building no longer exists? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yoctownyocol (talkcontribs) 19:44, 6 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Interesting question, User:Yoctownyocol, thanks! And thanks for looking up the entry. First I wondered, are we so sure it has been demolished? I couldn't find any actual confirmation of that. It is listed at two addresses, 815 Third and 314 F. According to the NRHP nomination, the nomination was for two buildings: the Robert E. Lee hotel at 815 Third and the Lyceum Theater at 314 F. There is still a Lyceum Theater at 3rd and F, incorporated into the Horton Plaza shopping center. But I found conflicting information about whether that is a new theater keeping the old name, or the old original building. It does appear the adjacent Robert E. Lee Hotel was demolished. I'm not sure what to make of all this, but in any case we should probably not take it upon ourselves to notify the NRHP. --MelanieN (talk) 23:08, 6 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
