Meteorology vs. Metrology edit

Whomever wrote this article needs to make a distinction between meteorology, which is the study of the weather and metrology which is the science of studying measurement. The US National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) uses the term metrology on its website, such as the example below:

http://www.isd.mel.nist.gov/projects/metrology_interoperability/

Otherwise this is a good article.

Hi,

The NPL was founded in 1947 and began functioning in 1950. It was entrusted with maintainance of standards only in 1956. Furthermore, that mandate is only one of its four broad objectives / functions as listed on this page. Why then is it necessary to devote so much space (a 2-para section) to the "history" of measurement systems in India? We could just put the {{Main}} template pointing to the HMSI page under the "Maintainer of standards of measurements in India" section.

Shreshth, if the intention is to get co-operation from the Troll by trying to accomodate him, just forget it. It ain't gonna happen. Regards, ImpuMozhi 16:13, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The 2 paras are better than nothing at all IMO, since they give a summarized background.--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91(review me!) 09:38, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
