Some lines above is being said that the NBL was established in 1937. With that in mind is clear that the "1937-40" span includes three NBL seasons. 1937-38,1938-39,1939-40. The 1936-37 season was a Midwest Basketball Conference season.

I replaced "three consecutive years (1937–40)" with "three consecutive seasons, 1937–38 to 1939–40". --P64 (talk) 01:28, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Section 1 History begins with a contradiction. Previously independent teams in 1937? or merely a name change for the MBC established 1935?
