The tone of this article seems hostile to islam. The last paragraph is an example. Also, the underestimation of the Egyptian courts and legal system. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.68.70.41 (talkcontribs) 04:27, December 15 2006

Critic of Islam

edit

Is he a critic of Islam or not ? If not then he should not be on this list List of Critics of Islam.--Amenra 03:24, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

He is a critic of Islamism and of sclerotic theology. I think it is very much an oversimplification to call him a critic of Islam. He is not, as far as I can recall from the one lecture of his I attended, a critic of Islam as such. I have only seen that list for the first time today thanks to your remarks, and I would have some concerns about it as well. Palmiro | Talk 03:32, 27 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
The listing of violation of human rights is very POV. You don't find people listing human rights violation when it comes to other controversial issues and authors. I have removed them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.100.48.219 (talk) 22:19, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Murtad?

edit

If he was judged to be a murtad, then he was judged to be an apostate. A heretic is known as a zindiq (heresy=zandaqa). Apostacy and heresy are different concepts. I think the text should be amended to read 'apostate' instead of 'heretic.'لقمانLuqman 00:31, 4 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

According to the text, he is a murtad! For instance because he rejected the Quranic statement that men are superior to women [النساء : 4/33]. Or maybe the author of that passage who is claiming false information about the believe of the modern ulamâ, by writing in the "Humanistic Hermeneutics of the Islam":
The classical position of the modern ulamâ about that issue is understandable as "they still believe in superiority of the male in the family". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.9.142.236 (talkcontribs) 03:11, December 26, 2006

Nice photography of Dr. Ahmed Zewail - but not of Nasr Abu Zaid ...

edit

... but instead, see description: "Dr. Ahmed Zewail is the 1999 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, is the Linus Pauling Chair professor of chemistry and professor of physics at the California Institute of Technology, and a statesman who has received international awards for his contributions to science and public life." This is the correct picture: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ar/0/0b/NASRABOZEID.jpg --2003:74:4E37:1C20:A519:9A91:448A:2144 (talk) 11:37, 5 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
