is it ok if this phrase is removed - I think it could just say "hip hop group". I read in Stealth Magazine #13 (Volume 2, Issue 10, 2005), page 18 (whilst looking for articles about Nay Wenitong) in the "Define Yourself" sidebar section for "Indigenous Rap — Used mainly by academics and people in the community sector trying to get government funding. Have you ever heard an MC with an indigenous background saying they are an "indigenous rapper" or make "indigenous hip hop"? It's an outsider thing and usually points to someone in a system where political correctness is rewarded." this issue has an editorial about identity and it's one of the themes throughout the magazine. I removed one mention of it. but then I saw an ABC article/radio show transcript where the host introduces the group as an "indigenous hip hop group" but then in the interview they talk about it just being music (not indigenous music per se). anyone have thoughts on whether to use the phrase? I think their identity can be found in other parts of the article + what they rap about in songs without needing to label it? (updated) Kathodonnell (talk) 11:37, 27 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
