I question whether it is appropriate to state that someone's nationality is "American" if s/he is a U.S. national? "Proud to be an American" etc. is certainly understood, but I wonder if Canadians, or for that matter Peruvians would agree that the term "American" is being correctly used here? As a formal description of her status, I doubt it is appropriate to use the informal, but common "American" descriptor. (Not to mention the fact that "nationality" isn't well defined and should be replaced by citizenship, imho.) This is the first time I've seen this usage on Wikipedia - its a general issue, not only relevant to this biography.
