The result of the move request was: not moved. Strong arguments that "Haji" is simply an honourific and a rarely used one at that. Jenks24 (talk) 20:59, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
Najibullah (militant leader) → Haji Najibullah – Per WP:NATURAL, the article title should be changed.
The proposed title is the subjects name as confirmed by The Nation [1], and the New York Times [2] --Ritsaiph (talk) 08:46, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
CommentWeak oppose As The Nation article you've linked says, "haji" is just an honorific title, not an actual name. Compare Sir Thomas More, whose page is simply titled Thomas More. Usually honorifics and other titles (Mr., Dr., etc.) are not included in Wikipedia article names. But there are exceptions, like Mahatma Ghandi and Gautama Buddha. A good example is "saint", which seems only to be used in cases of disambiguation (Saint Patrick, Saint Christopher, Saint Nicholas versus Augustine of Hippo, Paul the Apostle, James the Just, Anthony the Great, and the majority of other saints); I don't think there's any precedent for using "haji/hajji" in article names. There is also some proclivity on Wikipedia for using titles on people whose names have taken on particular archetypal, legendary, or idolized status, like King Arthur, Queen Victoria, and Lord Byron (but not even Richard I of England), which doesn't really qualify here. — the Man in Question (in question) 22:42, 24 August 2015 (UTC)- Oppose it is also an honourific title that can be applied to anyone with the name Najibullah that has been to Mecca. There is scant usage of "
Haji Najibullah
" in sources. The "confirmation" in The Nation uses "Haji Najibullah (Haji, of course, is the honorific for those who have made the pilgrimage to Mecca)
" prior to 11 further uses of "Najibullah
