"Joke party"??? It certainly was not! The only joke about it was its appalling organisation. As for the "Scottish" surnames, they were the names of the founders of the party. What do you expect them to do, change their names to something "less ethnic"? Its co-leaders, incidentally, were of Irish and Lebanese descent. NPOV, Vardion, NPOV! Grutness

Hmm. Sorry, I was genuinely under the impression that it was a non-serious party. I suppose my sources on the matter must have been biased against the party without me realising it. Thanks for correcting me. -- Vardion 21:42, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Fair enough. BTW, for what its worth here in Dunedin South their candidate outpolled the ACT candidate! Grutness
how was its organisation applling?
IIRC the original idea was to have candidates in all South Island electorates, but no-one organised any meetings to promote the party outside Otago and Southland, so in the main population base in the south (Christchurch) very few people even knew the party existed, let alone what their policies were. Even here in Dunedin South (where Pat Carrigan lives) the party had an incredibly low profile. Grutness...wha? 11:33, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

This party has apparently applied for broadcasting funding for the 2008 election, so it looks like it is active again. IdiotSavant (talk) 11:51, 26 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
