NXP/Freescale merger section

As it stands right now, this section seems to be just a copy/paste of an article that isn't using the companies' press releases. This opens up areas where content is only just speculation. This should be trimmed down to the facts rather than the fluff that journalists put in for their articles. --Funkyguy4000 (talk) 00:30, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Corporate facts update

My name is James and I am a public relations professional working on behalf of my client NXP Semiconductors. Under instruction from NXP I have been asked to facilitate the updating of several factual statements on the NXP Wikipedia page. The proposed edits are limited to updating factual statements such as employee numbers, factory locations and correcting some factual errors around the Freescale merger (they have not yet acquired the company but the copy suggests it has).

In order to ensure that COI issues do not present any difficulties, I would like work with editors to make these changes and have (fully referenced of course). With regards to the Freescale entries I am not changing the sources, merely ensuring they are quoted correctly.

16.7 or 40 billion dollar deal?

At Freescale Semiconductor: "NXP Semiconductors completed its acquisition of Freescale[2] for about $11.8 billion in cash and stock. Freescale shareholders received $6.25 in cash and 0.3521 of an NXP share for each Freescale common share. Including the assumption of Freescale’s debt, the purchase price is about $16.7 billion."

Here it says "On March 2, 2015, it was announced that NXP Semiconductors would merge with chip designer and producer Freescale Semiconductor in $40 billion US-dollar deal.[14][15] The merger was closed on December 7, 2015.[16]"

Id the difference that the deal is 16.7 billion but the size of the combined company is 40 billion? Then it shouldn't say, "deal" but "merger"?

I'm guessing NXP Semiconductors shouldn't be listed at the other page as a competitor (any more)?

Alternative speculation on price difference: Did the dollar amount get lower, as price renegotiated or just not all of the business merged? comp.arch (talk) 17:16, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
