Is this a disambiguation?

edit

I made some minor changes to make this page a disambiguation page and got reverted. The reason I did so is that I don't see this article ever having more content than it does now. As mycotrophs use either mycorrhiza or Myco-heterotrophy, and both of those are detailed on their own articles, there's really no detail to add here. This leaves this page as nothing more than a link to two topics with similar names. And that is exactly what a disambiguation page is. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 13:25, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Maybe you're right about the lack of potential for expansion, but that still doesn't make it a disambiguation page. The distinction may be a bit subtle, but it is still significant: a disambiguation page is a list of articles about topics that can be called by the same name, but otherwise are unrelated. This page is a list of articles about two subtopics of the same general topic. In other words, not every list of "two topics with similar names" is necessarily a disambiguation page. It is still a valid list or article. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 13:30, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Funny this has come up today, I'm currently working on a draft about fungivory as a whole. IMO, once once I move it to the mainspace in a while, this should redirect there, since mycotroph means "fungus eater", the same as fungivore. Mycotroph has a much wider usage beyond plants - see some of the refs in the draft linked above - so should just link to a general article about the eating of fungi, in the same way herbivore links to herbivory (happens to be vice versa actually, but you get the idea). Interestingly phytotroph is a red link... From what I've been reading plants that form mycorrhizal symbioses (i.e. most plants) aren't mycotrophs anyway. Merge?

edit

I don't think this should be merged into Myco-heterotroph. The term "mycotroph" is sometimes used for mycorrhizal plants as well. Keep this page to clarify the definition or make it into a disambiguation page, but don't merge it. Peter G Werner (talk) 01:24, 30 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
