I'm a bit perplexed as to the origin of the first block quote. I assume it's from Alan Rickman, but is that correct? In any case, it's rather unclear. 89.100.160.110 17:04, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

lower-case "is" in title

edit

I have moved this article back to "My Name is Rachel Corrie", using lower-case "is" in the title. This agrees with the preponderance of sources, which use lower-case, and reflects the British origin of the play. (British practice is to use lower-case for copulas, articles and prepositions in the titles of books, films and plays.) Also changed "Is" to "is" in the body of the article.

Somebody moved the page to the upper-case title, without addressing these points here on talk. I moved it back to lower-case, with an edit-summary request that the matter be discussed here before moving again. Unfortunately Koavf moved it back again, WITHOUT DISCUSSION. He also edited the resulting redirect so that it is now impossible to move it back to the correct title without going through the "request for page move" process. Before I initiate this process, I would appreciate it if someone would discuss the correct title here. In the meantime, I have corrected the title in the text of the article. Please also bear in mind that I am likely to be away from Wikipedia for several days, so I would be grateful if these changes are not reverted until I have returned.

How Corrie died

edit

I have added context directly how the reference mentions Corrie'd death, but Ironduke wants to say she died because she stood in front of a bulldozer. As retarded as that might sound, and is sort of factual, the context of why she was doing what she did, ect is important, sourcable and relevant. Please stop and discuss here.--68.9.119.128 13:38, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your writing is both offensive and difficult to decipher. However, if I take your point, which is that you wish to insert that there was a nearby house that was about to be "demolishshed". That may well be the case, but the IDF disputes it. There is plenty of room to discuss this controversy. and it is discussed, in the actual Rachel Corrie article. There's no need or point to rehash it here, and it wouldn't go in the lead even if we were to do so. Thanks for bringing this to talk. IronDuke 14:18, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have attempted a compromise. I do not think that Ironduke's position is tenable -- she did not die from standing in front of the bulldozer, but rather by being crushed by it. Surely that she was crushed, accidentally or otherwise, and what she was trying to stop by standing there, are as relevant (perhaps more so) than the iDF's suspicions about tunnels, etc. While the other anon is being somewhat rude, that does not excuse ID's continued whitewash with pro-Israeli POV. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.228.31.226 (talk) 20:39, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think you would find it instructive to read the actual Rachel Corrie article. IronDuke 01:50, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

'Cancelled' in Canada?

edit

That seems like too simplistic an analysis. According to THIS article, it's been staged in Montreal and Vancouver. Anchoress (talk) 08:01, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

My thoughts exactly -- this play was not cancelled in all of Canada: I just watched the play here in Vancouver. --Proteotopian

Missing Performances

edit

Article is missing some of the international performances mentioned in Rachel Corrie Foundation site.

We can gather all sources for the seperate performances, then add to the article. Kasaalan (talk) 21:26, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Better source for all performances Rachels Words. Kasaalan (talk) 21:28, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I will put a link for each verified staging listed under rachelswords.org.

Such a list would be excessive. Notable productions only, please. IronDuke 17:31, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Actually not that big, it is big because layout and can be shortened a great deal. Also when the staging list is small you might say the play is not that notorious. This is the complete list for all stages taken place on earth and cancelled. Kasaalan (talk) 18:00, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Added wikilinks for stages. Also some others are member of Theatre Communications GroupList of Theatre Communications Group Member Theatres. Can you suggest any idea on how to decide which stages are notable or not. Do you have any expertise on the area. Kasaalan (talk) 18:21, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
It isn't about the stages being notable, it's about the peformances. If you can find significant coverage of a peformance, that could be a reason to include it. But not just a list with a few tidbits thrown in. IronDuke 21:09, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Again I am asking do you know anything about theatre at all. Because theatre is different from cinema, and a play is not a movie. People cannot watch any stage performance they like in their living room. And since a theatre is not a movie, people or critics cannot travel over every city to just view the play on every stage, they go a theatre which is nearer to them. A play's notability decided by which important theatres it has been performed along with the critics it received. Trying to cut out the list for arguing the play is not notorious will not help in this case. Kasaalan (talk) 22:13, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I will also categorize international and us based plays separately in a new list. And if you have good will, why don't you try locating some of the notorious plays which are not yet included in the article and adding them. Kasaalan (talk) 22:15, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Specifically for the Beyond the Proscenium Productions staging of the show (only one link still worked). I don't feel comfortable editing them myself because I used to work admin and tech for that particular company and worked box office for the show specifically. So I'd be all kinds of COI up in the joint. For whatever it's worth, BPP ended their 15 year run and closed their doors last year in the fall and they no longer have their official website. Their blog is still up, however, and has some info about the show that was originally in some of the links that have gone dead (including scans of the sacbee review). Hope that's helpful. Millahnna (mouse)talk 15:28, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

My mistake; review scanned on the blog was from a Sacramento free paper, the News and Review. Same post has a link to the Sacbee review that you guys had originally included here but it is a dead link. Archive is paid only.  :(

A few corrections in the introduction

edit

For a better contextualization, I added who was the owner of the house that Rachel Corrie was trying to protect, with source, and I removed the bit about the "tunnel" in the house itself since the source is not reliable and partial.
