- Comment in Google News results, proposed title is outnumbered nearly 5:1 by both "You Who Came From the Stars" and by the current title. (If you filter out -kdramastars -allkpop from all the searches - since some WP:RSN threads expressed concern about sites like those, e.g. here, it's more like 2:1 and 5:1 respectively.) 58.176.246.42 (talk) 05:36, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose. SBS' own international website lists it under current title: [1], as well as Korea's offiial tourism website[2]. I think we should use the title SBS uses, since it is their product. How other websites translate the Korean original title is irrelevant, regardless of Google search results. Teemeah 편지 (letter) 09:02, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

Plot & Episodes list
editAt Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Film#Plot, we can read:
Plot summaries are self-contained sections ("Plot", "Plot summary") in film articles that complement wider coverage about the films' production, reception, themes, and other real-world aspects, per Wikipedia's policy on writing about fiction. Since films are primary sources in their articles, basic descriptions of their plots are acceptable without reference to an outside source. As Wikipedia's policy on primary sources says, "... a primary source may be used only to make descriptive claims, the accuracy of which is verifiable by a reasonable, educated person without specialist knowledge ... Do not make analytic, synthetic, interpretive, explanatory, or evaluative claims about information found in a primary source." Since the film is the primary source and the infobox provides details about the film, citing the film explicitly in the plot summary's section is not necessary. Exceptions to the rule include upcoming films and "lost" films (which are not available to the public to verify), for which editors should use secondary sources
.
But it seems that User:Aoba47 has her own personal opinion. Pldx1 (talk) 21:51, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Pldx1: I am man so that is the first thing. My Love from the Star is a television series not a film so what you have cited above does not apply to this article. If you feel there are issues with my review, you can post a message on the GAN talk page or open another GAN request to get another user's perspective. Aoba47 (talk) 21:54, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Aoba47: But you closed the GAN talk page within minutes of creation. Please see WP:GAN/I (Step 4): Other editors are also welcome to comment and work on the article, but a responsive nominator and reviewer can complete a review in about seven days. Reviewers can shorten/ extend the time limit if they wish but it doesn't mean minute. Thank You, Siddiqsazzad001 <Talk/> 05:12, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- Dear User:Aoba47. You opened this review at 20:26, 25 January 2019 ... and you closed it at 20:29, 25 January 2019. This reflects poorly about your openness to a discussion, but I am quite sure this was not your intent. Now, you have been told that your comments are seen as questionable by at least two persons, and therefore must be discussed. (1) Are you really saying that a television series is not a primary source about itself ? (2) Your comment:
the article should have the list of the episodes and summaries for each
doesn't seem to be founded on any policy. Moreover, the series is not a collection of independent episodes, but a continuous flow that has been sliced for obvious reasons. Therefore, I think that the best procedure is that you strikes your closure and reopens the discussion for a reasonable period of time.Pldx1 (talk) 12:18, 26 January 2019 (UTC) - By the way, the joke introduced by User:Jool091 at 17:00, 23 March 2014, namely:
Son Eun-seo as hwang jini (ep 4)
should have been detected: there was a citation needed tag for a reason. Pldx1 (talk) 12:42, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

@Pldx1: @Siddiqsazzad001: If either of you feel that my review was done incorrectly, then you are more than welcome to open up a new GAN and ask for another reviewer at the GAN talk page. I did a quick fail on the GAN, because I felt that there were too many issues to be addressed during a review. A quick fail can be done by a reviewer if they feel there are substantial issues with the article. I still maintain there are several issues with the citations. The references are inconsistent used in the "Cast" section as only some of the actors are cited, while others are not. Also, there are several instances of bare URLs that are not formatted properly. See references 52 through 55 as an example of this. Also, the citation needed tag should have been addressed before a GAN (and it still has not been addressed). And by the way, thank you for not apologizing to me for misgendering me. I will ping @BlueMoonset: to get their perspective as they are very involved with the GAN process. I will not be reopening my discussion, and if you really feel that this is ready for a GAN, then just follow my advice above (by opening a new GAN and requesting for a reviewer on the GAN talk page). Aoba47 (talk) 14:34, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- Since I have been pinged, I will do my best to respond.
- The article clearly needs work in various areas: per MOS:LEAD, there shouldn't be any significant information in the lead section that is not also in the body of the article, so basically everything that is in the lead needs to be expanded upon in the body of the article, and some of information is probably unnecessary to the lead (given the article's size, the lead shouldn't be longer than two paragraphs), while other information from the body should be added there. However, this shouldn't take so very long to rectify, and would not be a reason to quick fail it. Nor is having citations in the lead. This is not at all unusual in terms of what needs fixing in a GA review.
- Whether a film, television show, book, or similar work, on Wikipedia, it is considered its own valid primary source as to what has happened in terms of plot/synopsis, so sourcing is not considered needed beyond the work itself. Anything beyond a straightforward account does require secondary sourcing, but that doesn't seem to apply to the synopsis here. Again, not a quickfail consideration.
- While there shouldn't be bare URLs, it's an easily fixable problem: there are automated tools, and even manual edits would take very little time.
- There does need to be more sourcing for the cast. However, a single "citation needed" template is not a quickfail consideration; the criteria are very clear that it's
large numbers
of such. - I haven't seen many television series GAs, but I can't recall any without episode listings. Still, this is something I'd check with the TV wikiproject before deciding episodes should be insisted on, especially if there are existing GAs or even FAs without. However, basic facts about episodes, such as their running length, should be in the body of the article, never only in the infobox. The Awards section is completely inadequate, with only a link to a list article; a prose summary of the important accolades should be given here, and it should have more detail than what's currently in the lead.
- The first thing that struck me about this nomination is that it had waited over nine months for a reviewer to select it. Under such circumstances, an article should be so far from ready that sufficient improvements couldn't be accomplished within a week after diligent work for a quickfail to be considered. (There are prose issues and others currently, but a complete review would uncover all the issues, something the article never got.)
- Simply suggesting that the nominators open a new GAN strikes me as not very helpful: putting them at the back of a line that stretches up to ten months after they've already waited for more than nine is a very difficult pill to swallow. If Aoba47 would reopen the nomination and request a second opinion and/or a new reviewer to take a look, I think that would be a gracious solution here. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:10, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: Thank you for the response. If possible, could you reopen the nomination then and request a second opinion as I am not sure how to do that? I think that I have done it but I am not sure; if you believe that a comment in the nomination is necessary, then feel free to add one. Thank you in advance. Aoba47 (talk) 21:21, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: I fixed some of issues per GA1: [3] and [4]. Siddiqsazzad001 <Talk/> 05:03, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Siddiqsazzad001, it's a good start. Thanks. You'll want to continue working on changes, since although you've removed the citations from the lead, you need to insert that information and the sourcing into the body of the article. You'll want to revise the lead text per MOS:LEAD as I noted in my comments here, and address the other issues raised by Aoba47 in the original review and the rest of the things I mentioned above. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:26, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Cast
editHi! Pldx1 Will you please help me to add citation in the cast section? Because I am not familiar with Korean reference. :-) Siddiqsazzad001 <Talk/> 08:12, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Dear Siddiqsazzad001. YOU have taken the burden to put this article to the status of GA. My opinion was that your request deserved a fair review, giving hints about what is to be improved. Now you have obtained one. Its up to you to do the job now. By the way, this article needs some more details about the extravaganza that followed the release of this drama. A quick Google search leads, inter alia, to: https://www.trazy.com/theme/mylovefromthestars ; https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g2024864-d3136736-r562839474-Petite_France-Gapyeong_gun_Gyeonggi_do.html ; https://www.habkorea.com/my-love-from-the-star-day-tour ; https://archidrama.wordpress.com/tag/my-love-from-another-star/ ; etc. How to miss Jangsado ? How to miss chimaek ?
- Concerning Korean references, this is simple. Either you read Korean, and references are as usual. Either you don't and you have to remember that you are asserting that each and any reference does the job and proves what is supposed to be proven. Pldx1 (talk) 12:27, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Moreover, any series is a primary source about itself: any reference to the credits listed at the end of any episode is a sufficient proof of the fact that such and such actor was involved with the series ! Pldx1 (talk) 13:27, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- @Pldx1: Seriously, "archidrama.wordpress.com". Actually, you don’t bother. I will fix that soon. Siddiqsazzad001 <Talk/> 16:06, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: I fixed References. As you said,
Awards section is completely inadequate, with only a link to a list article
. I fixed that too. But what to do with the list of the episodes and summaries as Aoba47 mentioned? Is it required? Siddiqsazzad001 <Talk/> 16:07, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- Siddiqsazzad001, I'm going to be bowing out now; no need to ping me further. I've just done some formatting and a partial copyedit of the article, adding a couple of "citation needed" templates that you're going to need to take care of with new sourcing. (The one about the Thai plagiarism is going to require a good, reliable source, if you wish to retain that paragraph.) In general, there does need to be additional work on the prose; the final couple of phrases in the Main cast entry for Do Min-joon are an example of what needs to be improved. I don't see that you've taken any information from the lead and added it to the body of the article: the producers and director and writer aren't mentioned at all (they'd typically be in the Production section at least, along with casting decisions and possibly the information about the stars having worked together previously and whether that had anything to do with their casting together here). As you'll note from my post on the review page, I don't know whether the episodes list would be required—the new reviewer can let you know that for sure—but in the meantime you could inquire at WT:TV. However, I did see that there is a , which would seem to indicate that television articles should generally have episode lists. The "Episode table" template will be handy if you do one. Best of luck going forward. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:19, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
Further comments
editGreat. The article looks far better now ! Allusion to chimaek craze is ok. And now, some details about Jangsado (aka Jangsa Island) would help to underline how the craze around this drama was country-wide, and not only limited to Seoul. Pldx1 (talk) 09:43, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Lead
editthat was written by
→ "that was" is not necessary DoneDecember 18, 2013 to
→ add a comma: "December 18, 2013, to" DoneIt received several accolades across Asia; Jun won the Daesang (Grand Prize), the highest award for Korean television, at the Baeksang Arts Awards and the SBS Drama Awards, as did Kim at the Korea Drama Awards.
→ I'm a bit confused; is this award at both ceremonies? Also, these seem to only be South Korean awards, not "across Asia"?
- Yes, in South Korea, every award ceremony has an award/category named Daesang (transl. Grand Prize); it is the highest honour at the ceremony and can be awarded to a director, screenwriter, actor or even to a film/television series.
- See My Love from the Star#Awards and nominations, it has been awarded in China and Japan also; but yes I feel we can't say Asia for China and Japan. So I had changed it to → It received several accolades; Jun Ji-hyun won the Daesang (Grand Prize), the highest award for Korean television, at the Baeksang Arts Awards and the SBS Drama Awards, as did Kim Soo-hyun at the Korea Drama Awards. Hope it helps. Any suggestions? -ink&fables «talk» 09:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- consider adding {{TOC limit|3}} below the last paragraph of the lead so the 4th level subheadings for all the supporting cast families don't clutter the table of contents, as they aren't super important to show. Done
Synopsis
editwho is frequently cast in a supporting roles
→ "who is frequently cast in a supporting role" or "who is frequently cast in supporting roles" Done- what specifically is being cited with ref 1?
- Ref. 1 was already there before I started to edit this article in order to prepare for GAN. I guess it was added by an editor during its first GA review. The earlier reviewer had asked for it. I don't feel the necessity but I am happy even if it is there for verification of the entire synopsis. -ink&fables «talk» 09:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
Cast
edit- who is Seo Yi-hwa?
- Seo Yi-hwa is the girl whom Do Min-joon saves from falling off a cliff and misses his return trip to his home planet. Earlier, the complete name was not written in the synopsis, its there now. I hope this will help. -ink&fables «talk» 09:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- consider adding the "translator-last=" and "translater-first=" parameters to ref 3 as a translator is credited. Done
- per MOS:TVCAST, "The cast listing should not contain an episode count, e.g. (6 episodes) or (episodes 1–6), to indicate the number of episodes in which the actor or character appeared" Done
Production
edit- Choi Moon-suk is not mentioned in ref 28
- Yes; it is not mentioned in the reference and I couldn't not find any reliable source stating anything about Choi Moon-suk. Only reliable source is the official site of the drama. And as the link to the official site is already mentioned in the infobox and External links, I have only provided the url next to the ref. 28 which is masked. See. Any direction/suggestion? -ink&fables «talk» 09:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- ref 28 mentions Moon Bo-Mi and Park Ji-Eun as the show's creators; is this important to mention in the article?
- No; Moon Bo-mi is the CEO of HB Entertainment while Park Ji-eun is the screenwriter; it is already specified in the article, so mentioning them as shows creators is almost synonyms to their particular role in the the production of the series. -ink&fables «talk» 09:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
the media reported
→ maybe just "media reported" Done- why are the character names in the last sentence of the second paragraph italicized?
- It was done with an intention to highlight as the name of characters. It's de-emphasized now. -ink&fables «talk» 09:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- is there any other source that provides an explanation for the internal situation which cast Park as the younger brother?
- Yes; I found a reliable source, I have added the information/content. You can see and review it. -ink&fables «talk» 09:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
early November, 2013
→ comma unnecessary Done
to produce a television series in South Korea
→ the source only says for a drama, not a series Done
Soundtrack
edit- ref 35 does not indicate it is in Korean; also needs translated title. Done
- Tracklist should be a level 4 sudbheading, not bolded. Done
- use the headline= parameter in the track listing template, not ";CD1" and ";CD2" Done
Various Artists
→ Various artists DoneComposed by Jeon Chang-yeop and Jin Myeongyong; Choe Changguk contributed to track No. 3, 9, 10 and 19.
→ This doesn't need to be in small text. Also, what does "contributed" mean in this scenario?
- Done; By the statement: Choe Changguk contributed to track No. 3, 9, 10 and 19; I meant that Choe Changguk also composed the tracks along with the other two composers but only to the track No. 3, 9, 10 and 19. I have made few changes by adding an efn to avoid any confusion, please review it. -ink&fables «talk» 09:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- I don't think you're supposed to include references in headings; I would move ref 39 to after ref 36. Done
- I don't know if this is done throughout Korean TV show articles, but the singles could be better shown as part of the album infobox (see Template:Infobox album for instructions). For example, most music album articles do not have a tracklist section specifically for singles. Additionally, the No. 2 songs are not really that notable to be listed.
- Yes; it has been done like this, probably in most of the Korean Television Dramas related articles. I was also confused about this. I even asked this at the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums. You can see it here. -ink&fables «talk» 11:00, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
Singles from the series were released in parts (1-8) from December 2013 to February 2014 and a Special OST — Promise sung by Kim Soo-hyun was released on March 13, 2014. Kim Soo-hyun also
→ suggest changing to "Singles included on the album were released from December 2013 to February 2014, and a special standalone single from the series sung by KIm Soo-hyun was released on March 13, 2014. Kim also ... both of his covers ... " Doneby the audience
→ be more specific
- How?; You want me to include songs rankings on the charts. -ink&fables «talk» 11:00, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
All of the songs from the soundtrack of My Love from the Star
→ All of the soundtrack's songs DoneLyn's sountrack single My Destiny was ranked at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart and Billboard's K-pop Hot 100
→ not in ref 42. Also correct the spelling to "soundtrack", and I don't think singles are supposed to be italicized; it's just quotation marks. Donewas ranked at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart and Billboard's K-pop Hot 100; she received a special award for the Best Original Soundtrack at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards.
→ suggest changing to "peaked at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart and Billboard{{'}}s K-pop Hot 100. She later received the Best Original Soundtrack award at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards for the song." Done
Broadcast and viewership
editit was the most-watched television program of its time slot from December 18, 2013
→ is this only referring to the final episode? the source says "28.1%" at the end of the sentence
- Removed the statement to avoid any confusion. -ink&fables «talk» 10:47, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- I added the statement back. I confirmed it here:[5] -ink&fables «talk» 18:12, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Removed the statement to avoid any confusion. -ink&fables «talk» 10:47, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Is there any reason why hancinema is being cited instead of the original sources which are listed at the bottom of the page? It is usually better to link to the original sources.
- Largely because HanCinema's articles are in English and the original sources are in Korean. If you'll direct me to use main sources, I'm happy to do so. -ink&fables «talk» 10:47, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
beating the Olympics broadcast
→ I'm not sure this is what the source is saying. I think it's about how it ranked first in its time slot despite being moved to a different time slot because of the Olympics, not that it beat the Olympics.
- Done, removed the statement. -ink&fables «talk» 10:47, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- If you don't mind I can make an edit to the table to make it sortable/standardized. All the info will remain the same, except it will be more accessible and there will be no need for colour as it can be sortable. The table as it is now is not really acceptable.
- Sure, Thank you! -ink&fables «talk» 10:47, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Can TNmS be defined/given a definition/linked? Done Added an efn. -ink&fables «talk» 10:47, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
International broadcast
edit- Wall Street Journal url-access=subscription Done
it was exported to nearly 20 countries, including China, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Israel, and Belgium
→ this is too close of a paraphrasing
- Done I changed it to → .....; later, it was exported to nearly twenty countries. -ink&fables «talk» 10:00, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Reception
editIt was the fifth most-watched television program of 2014 in South Korea
→ I believe this is just referring to single broadcasts (the finale only, which had 28.1%). This could be moved to the previous section. DoneAGB Nielsen Media Research
→ this is already linked in an earlier text
- Done, rmv wikilink
In an op-ed piece published by the China Daily, writer Xiao Lixin attributed the program's success to "great innovations in South Korean TV productions in terms of themes and narrative patterns", praised the plot as "logical and fast-paced", and interspersed with "whimsy and romantic punch lines", and write "high-speed photography and computer-generated effects" help "create a lifelike visual impact".
→ this sentence is too long
- Done, divided into two. -ink&fables «talk» 12:14, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Yonhap
→ Yonhap News Agency DoneA year-end poll that Gallup Korea conducted in 13 countries
→ it was conducted with people over the age of 13, not in 13 countries Done- with only three reviews, the critical response section is a bit lacking. is there nothing more?
- There were two more reviews but they were from Global Times (GT) and since GT is a depracted source, so we can't use them. I guess there is no more reviews in English media, I'll try to find few in Korean media. -ink&fables «talk» 12:14, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
"ssi", which Jun Ji-hyun adds after male protagonist's name, became the most-discussed word
→ I'm confused; what does this mean?
- I have added the exact Korean word "시" and an efn to avoid any confusion. -ink&fables «talk» 12:14, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Out of its sixty-eight nominations, the show and its cast won thirty-nine accolades.
→ source?
- rmv as I they were just counted from List of awards and nominations received by My Love from the Star -ink&fables «talk» 12:14, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
Adaptations/plagiarism suit
edit- any update on American adaptation? Right now the reader doesn't know if it was ever released or not.
- No; there is no update.
- can you make it so the SBS Contents Hub doesn't need to be a blockquote. It's a bit excessive for just an ordinary response to a lawsuit I think Done
it began airing again in June 2014
- when did it start?
- I mentioned the month in the very first line of the paragraph. -ink&fables «talk» 13:14, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Etc.
edit- Jung Min-gyun from infobox – where are they cited?
- I mentioned his name in Production with a citation. -ink&fables «talk» 13:10, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- convert the hidden note with ref 28 into a reference; the external links don't count as citations Done
Moon Bo-mi is the CEO of HB Entertainment while Park Ji-eun is the screenwriter; it is already specified in the article, so mentioning them as shows creators is almost synonyms to their particular role in the the production of the series
- I would still list them as the creators in the infobox; it's a bit weird for one to lack info about who created the show Done- Just going back to the singles section. In my opinion, listing every track listing is a bit excessive information. The main songs could be put as singles in the infobox, as it is done on Parasite. I think the editor who responded was referring to the section placement within the article, not the section organization itself. This may be done in many Korean articles, but it's not really proper. There's not supposed to be that much collapsed information per MOS:COLLAPSE.
- Done; please review it. -ink&fables «talk» 13:10, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

I haven't watched the show and don't speak Korean so this is coming from a complete outside perspective; please forgive me if I misunderstand anything. Okay, the dates in the first infobox use the DMY format, yet the dates elsewhere in the article are in MDY format. Why the different formats? Jim856796 (talk) 02:46, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- I changed the date format to MDY format for the entire article to make it same as other Korean television drama related articles. -ink&fables «talk» 04:20, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
