Disambiguation
I'm against it. How'd you split it up, anyway? Extra and Unlimited are part of the same game, and Alternative is too closely linked to Unlimited. Omgwtflolz 16:30, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Charcater details are big spoilers.
You should really consider removing the details about the characters. Especially Sumika Kagami and 00-Unit are huge spoilers first revealed a good way in the final game. Having those later in the article might be alright since it's a warning there.

removed interwiki link
At the bottom of the article, there were two interwiki links: ja:マブラヴ and ja:マブラヴ オルタネイティヴ. I removed the latter because you should only link to one page for a given language. Otherwise, it's confusing... in the "other languages" section (on the sidebar in the default Monobook skin), it says this: "日本語 日本語"—and there's nothing to differentiate the two links (other than mousing over the link to see where it goes, but not everybody is that web-savvy). That's bad. So you need to decide which link is better to keep. I decided to keep ja:マブラヴ because it looks like it's the main article, but of course you can keep the other one instead if there's a compelling argument to do so. - furrykef (Talk at me) 00:15, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

- But the way the two links appear is unacceptable. Consider this sentence: "You can view this page in Japanese or in Japanese." Does that make any sense to you? Does the sentence provide any indication that the two pages "in Japanese" are different? But that's the way the links appear when you have both of them. It's just not acceptable. You have to find some other solution, like splitting this page into two and having each link to its corresponding Japanese article. Article Cleanup
this article is writen in a very confusing way. Is missing the synopsis for the original game (muv-luv) and it's heavily concentrated on the character description. Also, some frases like "brain in a tube" such like to describe a character are not proper for wikipedia. Overall, please do not remove the "article cleanup" tag and contribute.

The Euro Front
Hi.
Hobby Japan have been including their own side-story, The Euro Front, for the Alternative timeline. As the name suggests, this one is set in the European theatre of war. It seems to go more for Senjutsuki derived from units in our universe such as the Rafale and Eurofighter, and has a different cast again to those in Total Eclipse and Alternative itself. Is there anyone who can speak with more authority on the subject that could add a section for this side-story? --Nerroth (talk) 21:39, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
Which came first?
The intro paragraph currently says Muv-Luv is "a Japanese series of adventure games for the PC by âge. It was later adapted into fandiscs, comics, and novels", but the sidebar box shows the first manga as being in 2002 while the game was in 2003. Was the manga adapted from an unreleased game? Is the manga year wrong? Was the game adapted from the manga?
The article could use an initial section breaking down the media and history, instead of splitting that up all over the page. 24.16.57.110 (talk) 02:32, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

I've tried to reformat the sections, but there is a lot of extraneous information here and not enough information about the media franchise itself. I'm going to work on consolidating the games and manga sub-sections while filling out the novel and anime sections. I'll probably be splitting out some things out into sub articles, like the mess that calls itself a character section, and try to determine what is trivia and what isn't. - I've concluded most of the cleanup of the article. Most of what I removed was either excessive details or flat out original research. I've also added references to the game, manga, and novel releases and reorganize the article so that things are not just randomly thrown around. I still need to expand on the Novels and Gameplay sections as well as the lead. I also need to find information about the Xbox 360 re-releases and and it to the release history section. The article has came a long way since this version and I hope that the assessment rating improves to a C-class as a result. —Farix (t | c) 20:41, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

The article is structured similarly to similar articles about visual novel: Air, Clannad, Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two., Kanon, Kud Wafter, Little Busters!, Moon., One: Kagayaku Kisetsu e, Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru, Planetarian: Chiisana Hoshi no Yume, Popotan, Shuffle!, Steins;Gate, and Tomoyo After: It's a Wonderful Life. - The character section needs a serious overhaul before it gets added back into the article, if at all. But the character section is not as important as a well written plot summary. If the summary is written well enough, then there should be no need for a character section. —Farix

The characters and other stuff deleted was based off there, and the unsourced data is because the articles are from the various Fan Books released by AGE during comiket or from the supplement material. There are over 40 fan books out there for ML by now.(158.117.22.33 (talk) 08:39, 13 December 2011 (UTC))
Related media
- Many characters from Muv-Luv make appearances in other games by âge. Several Muv-Luv characters appear in Akane Maniax, a Kimi ga Nozomu Eien spinoff and Muv-Luv's prequel. Sumika makes an appearance in the Kimi ga Nozomu Eien ～special FanDisk～ short story "True Lies", in which she is the leader of the shokkaku-jinrui, known as the Red Führer. And finally, several Muv-Luv characters appear in the web anime Ayumayu Gekijou, and the fourth episode is little more than a parody of Muv-Luv Alternative.

Japanese only?
By not mentioning other language releases, the article suggests that the game is available only in Japanese. Is this indeed the case? Merge back character lists
Somehow the character lists was split out to three different articles:
- List of Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse characters
- List of Muv-Luv characters
- List of Schwarzesmarken characters
This makes no sense. The individual titles do not even have separate articles, so why would a character list get special treatment? The size and number of main characters does not warrant the split either. They are not independently notable by secondary sources. That some of them are crossed with other company titles such as Rumbling Hearts or Akane Maniax doesn't guarantee notability. So they need to go back to the main article. - Are there a lot of crossover between Muv-Luv and it's spinoffs other than being set in the same universe? If not, then I would recommend against any merger, though I would suggest that List of Muv-Luv characters simply be made a redirect as it doesn't actually add anything. Note that I moved the original character list form the article to the talk page because in needed serious cleanup, and that list is no better. We may even want to look at spinning out Total Eclipse and Schwarzesmarken into their own articles while this article focuses on the original game and its media adaptions. —Farix (t | c) 13:47, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

@AngusWOOF, Knowledgekid87, TheFarix, and Czar: I would consider making List of Muv-Luv characters the target for the merge if there is to be a split. At this point I think that at least Total Eclipse can be split off as suggested by Farix (see the refideas boilerplate above (oldid link)). - WP articles follow the source material. If there isn't significant coverage in multiple reliable, independent sources (?) on the characters as a separate entity, they will belong as sections in their main corresponding articles, whichever they are

- Okay, I have looked into it and I have three suggestions. 1:
MoveMerge List of Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse characters to Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse and edit it using the references now in the refideas boilerplate above. 2: Delete List of Muv-Luv characters unless some reference or other content can be merged into the main article (I don't see any) as I don't see any point in leaving a redirect without it. 3: Move the Schwarzesmarken list to be an article or merge it into Total Eclipse as they are related. – Allen4names (contributions) 15:45, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, I have looked into it and I have three suggestions. 1:
- As of July 2017, the current handling of character lists is atrocious. About half of this article - the main article for the entire franchise - is a character list for Total Eclipse, a spinoff of minor importance. If separate articles for the spinoff character lists doesn't make sense, merging only one into the main article (and one that's not the original VN itself) makes even less sense. Right now, this article would confuse the hell out of anyone looking to it for a basic understanding of the Muv-Luv franchise, largely because of this distraction. Split "Muv-Luv" into "Schwarzesmarken"
As Schwarzesmarken follows a different story with other characters, I think Schwarzesmarken should get an article separated from other Muv-Luv media. There are articles for this series in Japanese, Chinese, and German, all of them with references. Daikage (talk) 14:36, 18 November 2017 (UTC)
- Schwarzesmarken certainly does deserve a separate page, but given this page includes information about a ton of Muv-Luv spinoffs and related media, it doesn't seem to have so much information about it that any would elude the scope of this article.
