The remainder of this paragraph contradicts the opening sentence or doesn't support it:

Fiber length is also a determinant of force production. Fiber length refers to the number of sarcomeres in series. Each skeletal muscle fiber extends over the length of the muscle in which it resides. By solely varying fiber length the velocity will change; however, the force generated will remain the same.[10] In muscles with a larger number of sarcomeres in parallel there is an increase in the PCSA even though the overall muscle length might be shorter (ie. pennate muscle). An increase in PCSA results in greater force production.[2]

Wow, yeah, that's a trainwreck. I've edited it so at least it's not contradictory, but the wording could probably be tightened up some. HCA (talk) 00:21, 19 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
