History edit

Does anyone know of history of this plant? The normal yellow banana has so much, but this one does not. Even if there's a source that has the information, I could even add it. Thanks Yogurtsauce (talk) 05:42, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

What you call the "normal yellow banana" (which is only "normal" in some countries) corresponds to one or more cultivated varieties (cultivars) that have been selected and propagated by people, and which originated as a hybrid between two wild species.
Musa coccinea is a natural species, found in the wild, although it is cultivated as an ornamental plant, partly for its scarlet flowers. So it doesn't have a "history" in the same way, although there should be something in the article on its cultivation. A quick search online for "scarlet banana" showed a lot of commercial and blog sites, but there were a few acceptably reliable ones, e.g. this. Peter coxhead (talk) 08:10, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
