editSince this is a Western game, why would there be Japanese translations of the main characters' names? Should those not be removed? Jormundgard (talk) 05:53, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
- Well i guess this due to the different versions/ports of the game, the one for 8bit home computer one ("western product") and the nintendo one ("japanese product"). Since they both described in parallel it makes sense to provide the japanese names. Alternatively one could create separate sections for the home computer and nintendo versions.--Kmhkmh (talk) 10:12, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
- By that reasoning, shouldn't Super Mario Bros also use Romaji for Mario and the other characters? Or really wouldn't every game also need to include its localized name for every country?
- It seems that the place for the localized names is on the localized page, i.e. the Japanese Wikipedia page for the game. Having been released in another country does not seem to be sufficient cause to include both. Jormundgard (talk) 01:48, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- FWIW, you just responded to a comment from 7 years ago. You might want to at least ping the editor you're replying to, given that they are still active but may no longer be watching this page. DonIago (talk) 02:33, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- The page in general, other than the summary at the start and the single sentence in the "Reception" section, appears to be mostly about the Famicom version. I'd recommend that someone familiar with both games rewrite it better reflect the similarities between the two & then include a section on differences. (e.g. the English names given aren't the original names & there's a character missing from the list who didn't appear in the Japanese edition; the C64 version allows saving.) g026r (talk) 16:35, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
