• 1. Since the DRV I found a 2006 article from a Minnesota newspaper, published three years after the execution of Louis Jones, comparing this case and its outcome to the Dru Sjodin murder (McBride originated from Minnesota)

What is this about?

I realize that this is a way to backdoor in an article about Jones by calling it "Murder of....", but let's at least pretend like it's about the murder of McBride. I just rewrote the opening lines, since it barely mentioned the victim. We spend a lot of time talking about Jones background and almost nothing about McBride. And why is the main picture of the killer? This is supposed to be about McBride, isn't it? Niteshift36 (talk) 00:20, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

• @Niteshift36: I'm working on getting her picture (See Commons thread and also Milhist thread). I know she has a US army photo but I'm trying to find some way of verifying it. I attempted to e-mail the Army but the contact form gives me 400 bad request. If/when the military photo is confirmed I'd like to put it first, with the infobox.
• I am also aware McBride joined the military to pay for college (this was stated on Dr. G: Medical Examiner). Once a written source saying that is found I'd like to have that added into the article too.
• If there is a publicly-hosted transcript of the Dr. G: Medical Examiner episode that would be great too (it detailed all of the things Jones did to her to try to cover up the crime, and it also stated that she was examined post-mortem in San Antonio, Texas by Jan Garavaglia)

• The article's really about the entire case (the murder, the backgrounds of the parties, the legal battle, up to the execution itself), but I think an article about the case has to talk about Jones's background in detail: his own lawyers argued that his military record was a reason not to put him to death, and that his behavior changed for the worse after Iraq (his ex-wife also said that his behavior declined after Iraq). • @Niteshift36: On some level the article must talk about Jones; he can't be separated from the topic of the murder. However I can add more details about the murder itself from the Dr. G episode (which is essentially about McBride's autopsy) - The episode stated that:
  • McBride's body was examined in the Bexar County Morgue in San Antonio by Jan Garavaglia (a.k.a. Dr. G)
  • Jones did confess to the murder but he initially lied about the nature of it, saying that he had not raped McBride
  • Garavaglia found the body to be in a perfect military uniform (turns out Jones had made McBride wash the uniform)
  • The fact Jones left the body in a culvert under an overpass and the unusually cool weather meant it was well-preserved (even though the hands were mummifying) - this was Jones's undoing
  • Garavaglia found trauma on the genitals but no DNA from Jones: it was later revealed that he made her pour chemicals (I'll have to rewatch the episode to see what exactly) on her body to remove his DNA
  • McBride's boyfriend was out of state so he could not have caused the trauma from the rape (the colors on McBride's body showed that it happened very recently, so only Jones could have done it)
  • Jones did ultimately admit to raping McBride
  • Even though Garavaglia was opposed to the death penalty, she did her job, which allowed federal prosecutors to prove that Jones did it and to seek the death penalty
• I would like to include all of these details in the section about the murder.

I went ahead and added more details about her murder and autopsy from the Dr. G episode, which I found online.

Some additional notes:

• 22:10-23:05 - Garavaglia finds evidence of bruising on McBride's genitals, and she could even tell what color they were, and that McBride was conscious and fighting against Jones
• 23:25-23:50 - Deals with possibility of McBride's genital trauma being caused by boyfriend (he was out of state); the prosecutor stated that the defense could have said that McBride had "rough sex" consensually with her boyfriend before her disappearance
• 25:08-26:45 - No DNA found (because Jones had concealed it with the hydrogen peroxide) but Dr. G believes the color of the genitals proved rape
• 27:00-27:20 - The timeline means that no other person could have had sex with her in the time period, since the genital trauma was so fresh and since her boyfriend was out of state
• 31:30-32:05 - Jones chose a remote location so the body wouldn't be discovered, but the fact Jones left the body in the culvert preserved the body, exposing the fact he raped her
