Not interested in Neese as much as in Eddy

edit

Very little detail about Sheila Eddy in this article. I'd rather have a dedicated article with information on Shelia and perhaps let this article be a subsection of that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FB90:9CF4:C581:8319:4E9E:598A:7B7A (talk) 08:11, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Removed reference to blog

edit

Blogs aren't considered valid references by wikipedia, so I removed the reference to the blog.

Name of second suspect

edit

I removed the added reference to the second suspect. Her name has not been publicly released as her case is in juvenile court. A blog is not considered a reputable source. If there is an actual newspaper article or something that names her, then it can be included, I believe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mafh01 (talkcontribs) 05:03, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Editors, please do not add the name of the second juvenile suspect unless you have a reference in a reputable source to back up this name. A reputable source is a mainstream newspaper, or even a TV news report. A blog is not a reputable source. 64.181.114.4 (talk) 20:18, 8 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Drugs

edit

A drug has been mentioned. I am not sure that such a carefully planned crime was consistent with drugs. The name of the other girl is easily available with a Google search. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.166.170.49 (talk) 15:43, 26 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Several drugs were used generally. The murder was planned for some time but very amateurish. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.138.196.0 (talk) 13:00, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Shelia Eddy -- first name

edit

I think her actual name is "Shelia" but news articles are calling her Sheila.

These news articles say "Sheila"

These news articles say "Shelia"

As currently written, the article uses the Shelia spelling, but if there is definitive evidence that it is the other way, we can change it. Unfortunately, I don't think Wikipedia considers the testimony of friends/family/or even the subject themselves to be authoritative. It has to be something citable.

Here is her mugshot. The paper she's holding says Shelia. I consider that to be fairly authoritative in case someone questions it. Bali88 (talk) 20:29, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

The trial of Shelia Eddy is expected to start on 22/10/2013. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.183.73.93 (talk) 14:59, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

OK add it to the article.--BabbaQ (talk) 15:20, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
It seems to have been postponed to 11/2/2014 now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.183.73.93 (talk) 16:07, 19 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
After changing her plea to "Guilty", Shelia Eddy was sentenced to life with at least 15 years on 24/1/2014. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.183.72.219 (talk) 09:21, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Missing white woman syndrome

edit

I removed the Missing white woman syndrome page from the "See also" links. Skylar does/did not have saturated media coverage and her case is not an example of missing white woman syndrome. Createastorm (talk) 16:33, 4 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Shoaf got 30 years, not 40 years: Source Cited

edit

Rachel Shoaf sentencing hearing on you tube has the judge ordering Shoaf to 30 years, sentenced as an adult: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Has7JE51Aos at minute 53:05, Title of video: Rachel Shoaf Sentencing (murder of skylar neese) 208.106.99.64 (talk) 03:43, 14 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Possible Additional References

edit
Two good references. If anyone wants to add them to the article, please do. I post infrequently.
The FB sentence hearing video for Rachel Shoaf with considerable detail and following comments.
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=820336135431155
That video has comments afterword from a young man that seems to indicate that Rachael had a less than 'normal' upbringing. I'm not trying to defend her, just pointing to the possibility that her environment may have been instrumental in her lack of judgment/maturity. It's so sad all around.

Murder Date Correction (not made)

edit
I misread the article. No change made.
edit

I sorted and formatted these two sections. I wonder if the two books that now remain in Further reading are books that an encyclopedia would refer to. Without comment I will remove the section entirely. A review would be helpful in evaluating.

Likewise the the website published by Sandt. Is this what an encyclopedia links to? Pretty sure not.

I also formatted both sections. 18:28, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
