My understanding is that Mumijo is actually a Greek word, not a word of Greek origin

I strongly believe this page needs some scientific sources. Linking to two online shops with "mumijo" in the domain name isn't enough. 193.217.178.10 02:35, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wrong formula

edit

Ca Si [(K,Na) C4H10 CH20] - this is a horribly wrong formula. For example CH20 is impossible. What is more there must be some nitrogen and oxygen. It is possible to write a formula for single compounds but not for complex mixtures. It is the same as writing a formula of pie. The only way to give some chemical information is to write the percent of each element in the mixture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.240.55.7 (talk) 16:46, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Snake Oil

I personally believe that Мумиё is a hoax of Soviet origin. At least, there are no reliable information what it actually is (albeit, many people offer it for sale :) ). Gritzko (talk) 13:00, 11 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

it is not a hoax. it is just very old bat-shit. If you consider that be a hoax so be it. One person less to drive up the cost :lol
I am soo tired of those myths about where it comes. It is NOT mineral at all, it is extract of humus formed out of bats deposits (actually "poop", hence even here mentioned "coprolitic"). Those bat colonies live in high mountains, eat insects, that feed on mountain flora, thus enriching all the good stuff in it. In the caves where bat colonies sleep, deposits form. These deposits are collected, softened in water for several days, fine filtered, then filtered liquid is dehydrated to desired thickness. That's how my dad did it before my very eyes and with my help. 69.181.205.120 (talk) 03:59, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

This entry seems to be impossible to Wikify. I'll give its supporters a week to attempt to bring it up to WP standards before I propose it for deletion. Bricology (talk) 06:16, 18 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, I gave it 6 months, but no one managed to Wikify the entry, so I'm proposing it for deletion. It smells like pure snake oil to me.Bricology (talk) 08:13, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think you understand the term Wikify incorrectly, because the article seems wikified. Please explain in other words what do you mean.--tired time (talk) 16:09, 21 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's Wikified but there aren't reliable sources for the article, just what would be an RS for an addition (a Mumijo-like substance found in Antarctica, not something that evaluates Mumijo itself), that doesn't support the article itself (it just assumes claims that only find support on snake-oil sellers' sites.).
