I agree that this article is deeply flawed. The destruciton of Nalanda University was one of the greatest disasters and attrocities in the history of Buddhism, and certainly should not be described as a credit to his reputation. I was very supprised to read that killing people in most violent way is record and one of the greatest. This person committed what we would call today 'war crimes' using specialised military units to torture and mass-murder civilians. What is the difference in glorifing him and Hitler or Stalin? Islamization of Bengal & the Historic Importance of Khilji

You like it or not the conquest of Bengal by this muslim soldier paved the way of turning the biggest delta of Indian subcontinent to the domain of Islam. Islamization of Bengal was no doubt initiated by Bakhtyar Khilji. So, there rests the historical importance of Khilji.Al-minar (talk) 07:08, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Why is he not Persian?

All famous Turkic people who lived in todays Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iran, Central Asia are considered as pure Persian by Persian nationalists and they claim that they have nothing to do with Turkicness, Turkishness. Why is Bakhtiyar Khilji not considered as a Persian? Has it something to do with the negative image he has?

Now I understand the logic of Persian nationalism:

When a Turk (Turkic) is famous for positive things, he IS... PERSIAN!

When a Turk (Turkic) is famous for negative things he is Turkic (or Turk). —Preceding unsigned comment added by DragonTiger23 (talkcontribs) 16:13, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
