why no images of muhammad in "first" section?

i want to see what he looks like.. look, many articles that about famous ones has images about that famous ones in "first" section. but, muhammad dont has this? why? is muhammad a special person? what makes muhammad special? hello all. Modern primat (talk) 21:28, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

The consensus long ago became that placing images of Muhammed in the most visible / first part of the article was putting undue weight on his depiction. What this means is that depictions of Jesus, for example, are much more central and emphasized in Christianity than depictions of Muhammed are in Islam, that's why it's not prominently featured in the same way. Eik Corell (talk) 23:49, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
""putting undue weight on his depiction.""(edit: in fact, this is wikipedia policy, but i think im still right)(second edit: you wrote ""Muhammed are in Islam"" so.. we should remove all of his images? because it is forbiddden according to islam?Eik Corell) wow. so, that's show, muhammad is special person. but wait, you also wrote ""depictions of Muhammed are in Islam"", do we only use sources about islam? of course not, then we should use muhammad's image no matter what islam thinking. and lastly, for example, in hitler article, do we use his most used image by nazis? ----Modern primat ඞඞඞ TALK 05:39, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
@Modern primat: Eik Corell may be correct, although my recollection of the consensus was that the lead image should be representative of the way Muhammad is illustrated in Islam, and that is predominantly by calligraphy. So that is what we use. Either rationale is valid. ~Anachronist (talk) 05:20, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
""lead image should be representative of the way Muhammad is illustrated in Islam, and that is predominantly by calligraphy."" same reply to you, please look up.. i hope you understand my english.. to not put image of muhammad is not also about "neutrality". still asking same question: are we using just one type of source? just looking from islam's perspective is also "undue weight" Anachronist, Eik Corell----Modern primat ඞඞඞ TALK 06:10, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
also, in arabic wikipedia, muhammad article dont has images about muhammad. is this a coincidence? i think it is all about "noo, you cant put image of him, noo, it is sin" ----Modern primat ඞඞඞ TALK 07:37, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
Although the last time I looked, the Farsi version does have illustrations. But "Islamic" here might be a little misleading - yes, Muhammad is most commonly depicted by calligraphy in Islam, but he's also most commonly depicted by Muslims, so it transits that he's most commonly depicted by calligraphy by humans. That's why a calligraphic representation is given the most weight. WilyD 12:30, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
Maybe a good idea to put something in the FAQ, I'd do it myself but I'm not technically skilled enough to be confident I wouldn't destroy the formatting while doing so. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 19:32, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

Ah. I have no idea how I missed that, but it is definitely there. I am duly humbled. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 01:04, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Remove the false images associated with the name of Hazrat Muhammad PBUH. I read the answer given by you but still, no one is allowed to hurt the sentiments of so many Muslims just on the name of an encyclopedia. You should remove these as there is no need to add such images if you want to convey some messages you can add just text. The false images showing not any information just showing the wrong picture and some can imagine him as an image that is extremely bad. I condom your this act with all my Muslim brothers and sister.

REMOVE FALSE IMAGES. 119.156.27.38 (talk) 09:17, 6 April 2022 (UTC)

It is, in fact, an artistic rendering of Muhammad, and the Wikipedia community feels it is appropriate. If you register an account, you can set your account up to not display pictures of Muhammad. —C.Fred (talk) 11:45, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
