The list of recorded versions needs to be checked, because it seems to be based on peer to peer lists instead of actual discographies. In these lists song versions are frequently attributed to wrong artists. In this case the version of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band often is not recognised as theirs and attributed to people like Jim Croce, Dr Hook, BillY Joel and so on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.207.4.147 (talk) 13:36, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

– Inbound links and page views suggest that most people searching for "Mr. Bojangles" are looking for the song. The only other element that has that exact name and an article is an obscure album released well after the song became popular, so I think it's safe to say the song is the primary topic. • Oppose, the disamb page seems most accurate as it contains as primaries both the song and Bill Robinson. The person the song is written about was using Robinson's nickname, Bojangles, and then the song uses Robinson's other nickname, Mr. Bojangles. I don't think Wikipedia should take away anything else from Bill Robinson, who is just as much Mr. Bojangles as is the song. Randy Kryn (talk) 04:25, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

Oppose, having now looked at WikiNav which shows that readers leaving the current dab page are very evenly divided between those going to the song and Robinson, so neither is the Primary Topic and the current dab page serves the reader best. PamD 20:40, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
