Talk:Movie tie-in (book)

Rename edit

Computer games can be movie tie-in's too (such as Robocop (video game)). Any objections to modifiying this article to represent those as well? Marasmusine 17:43, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

There are many things that can be movie tie-ins -- toys, household objects like drinking glasses, T-shirts, you name it. This article is about movie tie-in books because some book collectors collect them (you'll notice that it's categorized as "type of book"). This type of book is specifically called a "movie tie-in" -- note that it's distinguished by the word "movie" as opposed to "film". I wouldn't object to a "See also" section that linked to, say, "Movie tie-in (video games)" or whatever. Accounting4Taste 18:28, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
And, faster than a speeding bullet, you did create a "See also" section that seems to cover what you want to link to. (And thanks for that linkage.) I think it might most appropriately be linked as a list under the "List of Video Games" section -- as near as I can tell, that would be where people would go to look for such things. But I'm willing to consider any alternatives that would be useful to the reader, including modifying this article. Accounting4Taste 18:32, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you can get an administrator to re-name this page "Movie tie-in (book)", I'll go and fix all the links. Accounting4Taste 18:39, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Rename and links sorted out :> BTW you can perform renames yourself; see Help:Moving a page. I'll have to see about making a Movie tie-in (video game) now! Cheers, Marasmusine 19:10, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merger edit

This article should be merged into Tie-in. Tie-in novel already redirects there. Any medium/product can be tied in to another. See cross media marketing. The specifics vary but the tie-ins are really all the same, and the tie-in book is just one example. --Evb-wiki (talk) 14:02, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree, I will perform the merger and also merge in Movie tie-in (video game), I think. Marasmusine (talk) 15:27, 1 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
