Image:Mountain band.jpeg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Heavy Metal?

The page says they were forerunners to heavy metal, not saying they are heavy metal. Heavy metal should be removed from the info box. Labeling Mountain heavy metal seems a little extreme and not accurate. 68.102.235.239 (talk) 05:01, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Name?

Removed some vandalism at the beginning of History, but I don't understand what it's saying about the name. Lesley West recorded a solo album called "Mountain", the people involved then formed a band named Mountain because of Lesley West's size. Did West call his solo album "Mountain" because of his size. Pappalardi's Murder

I was wondering if it is appropriate to include the murder of Pappalardi and it's surrounding circumstances in an article on Mountain. I can understand the reasoning as he was a member of the group at various times. I would think, though, it would be more appropriate for that info to be included in his own article, especially in light of the fact he was not active in the band at the time (at least, that's how it sounds in the article). Not a big deal either way. The information just seems to stick out like a sore thumb instead of fitting in with the flow of the article. Thoughts?THX1136 (talk) 21:43, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Best Known Song

I'm certain that Mississippi Queen would not be the best known song in the UK, it would be Nantucket Sleighride (possibly because of its use as a TV theme. Is there any reason to say that Mississippi Queen is the best known (apart from the single success) or is this just an opinion? 86.151.39.134 (talk) 18:58, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

I'd take issue with the description of "cowbell-tinged". This is subjective but I've never even noticed a cowbell. Seems to me the dominating sound is the guitars, both the deeply-heavy rhythm and the slide lead. Corky Laing Plays Mountain IS NOT the Official Mountain

This article had been updated to show the band, led by Corky Laing, called Corky Laing Plays Mountain as the official Mountain (here is some more information on that band: http://corkylaingworks.com/CURRENTPROJECTS). I cannot find a single source anywhere (including Corky's site) that refers to this group as being the official Mountain. After doing some research it appears that Corky has been performing with this band while Leslie West has been performing with his own solo group, both of them performing Mountain songs. I cannot find any evidence of a band featuring any of them being billed as "Mountain" since 2010. Therefore it appears that the band is simply on hiatus as they have not announced any breakup yet. I have updated the members section to reflect this and made note of the band's inactivity as well as West and Laing's bands at the bottom of the article. sk8punk3d288 (talk) 19:07, 7 November 2016 (EST)

mistake in the article - Woodstock performance

Mountain's recordings of "Blood of the Sun" and "Theme ... Western" are not the recordings from their Woodstock performance, but are from another concert, recorded when Laing was in the band. These were used for the record, so that royalties would go to the then-current incarnation of the group. While Mountain's Woodstock performance (with Norman D. Smart II on drums) has been bootlegged more than once, no official release of this has ever been issued. There are RS's that back this up, if an involved editor would like to amend the article accordingly. The filmed versions of "Southbound Train" and "Beyond the Sea" are the only officially-sanctioned available recordings of Mountain Mk. I's performance at Woodstock. Sadly, the Wiki article on "Mountain Live: The Road Goes Ever On" (1972) incorrectly credits two songs to Woodstock and to N.D. Smart. This would irritate Laing and West to no end.
