  • ... that the original traces of cannon carriages and trenches from the 1916 defensive battle of the Ottoman Army against Russians were visible on satellite images of the Mt. Kop Defense NH Park? Source: "savaşta kullanılmış Osmanlı ve Rus savaş malzemeleri bulunmuştur", " 20 Mart-15 Temmuz 1916 tarihleri arasında, tam dört ay süre ile Bayburt’tan idare etmiştir.Birinci Dünya Savaşında Doğu Cephesinin 3. Mıntıkasını teşkil eden alanda top yolları ve savaş mevzileri iklim etmenleri dışında hiç bozulmadan günümüze kadar gelmiştir." (in Turkish) [1], "Osmanlı ordusunca hazırlanan piyade mevzileri, top yolları ve top mevzilerine ait izlerin halen görülebildiğini ..", "Alan doğal etmenlerin haricinde çok fazla tahrip görmemiş hatta uydu görüntülerinden mevzilerin orijinal şekilde durduğu tespit edildi." •   Thanks for this interesting article CeeGee. The article is new enough, long enough and within policy. The hook is interesting. There appear to be some minor issues, however. It might be splitting hairs, but the original sources (I am a native speaker of Turkish) do not say that the traces of the cannon carriages are visible from the satellite images. The Ministry website says that these and the trenches are still visible (presumably on the ground), and the Milliyet article states that the trenches are identifiable from the satellite images (but no mention of the cannon carriages). That needs to be sorted out - it would probably be fine to remove any mention of the satellite images here. Furthermore, I don't really think that "cannon carriages" is an accurate translation of "top yolları". Whilst I am no expert in military terminology, I think "top yolu" is better translated as a "cannon track", as "cannon carriages" would be understood to mean these, whereas this clearly talks about the tracks that were used to move these. So that probably needs editing. Finally, it might be a good idea to switch the trenches and the traces of cannons around - it is the trenches that are preserved as they are, not their traces. --GGT (talk) 16:36, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Thank you very much for your review and recommendations in depth. It was difficukt to translate the word "top yolu". Anyway, I agree with you, and copy edit the article and add ALT1 accordingly. CeeGee 07:20, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot for your work. I think this is now good to go! --GGT (talk) 23:46, 14 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
