DynATAC?
The article states “DynaTAC was an abbreviation of Dynamic Adaptive Total Area Coverage.” Would that make it the DynATAC? Felicity4711 (talk) 05:37, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
- Motorola themselves refer to the technology as "DynaTAC," as evidenced here: http://www.motorola.com/us/Corporate-Motorola-History-Timely-Achievement.html -- My assumption is that it was stylized this way to be more pronounceable, to have a better sound when spoken. Brick?
The 8000 was never called a brick. There were transportable units that had batteries the size of a brick. The term 'brick' has been retrospectively applied to the 8000 which is nothing like a brick!. RE: "The DynaTac 8000X, due to its resemblance in size and weight to a standard clay-fired brick, was nicknamed the brick phone by users".....nonsense. It looks nothing like a brick and is smaller and lighter than a brick. If anything was called a brick it was one of the 10 watt transportables.
