Augggh - my back!! edit
Advanced Portable Coronary Observation Radio is, to the best of my knowledge, the correct name, those of us that lugged them up too many flights of stairs know that APCOR actually stood for Allegedly Portable Coronary Observation Radio. Damn things were heavy! Note: This information, while notable at the time, has no place in the actual article. --plaws (talk) 22:20, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- This might actually be notable: there were at least three models I ever heard of. The two heavy ones were the 12 and 15 W output models. But then there was a 1 W model as well that was MUCH lighter because of the MUCH smaller battery. It ran through a vehicle mounted repeater but still full-duplex UHF. Some of these, maybe all, had a small DTMF keypad that allowed the paramedics to "steer" the vehicle repeater to a different channel. It may be the case that the non-steerable versions were stuck on whatever channel the vehicular repeater was tuned to. --plaws (talk) 16:54, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
