As someone who lives in town and drives past the Ypsilanti water tower daily, I am caught somewhat aslant by this term. Question of dates

The article states: "...as part of an elaborate city waterworks project that began in 1899...the tower was finally completed in 1890" how could it be finished 9 years before it was started? This has obviously since been changed. However it now says that the tower was built in 1889 and finished in 1890, going on to state that this means it was completed 11 years after it was begun. Most Phallic Gravestone

Phallic Gravestone Ahern Monument Mount Olivet Cemetary South 111th Street near Kedzie Avenue Chicago Illinois

This monument is a pinkish color granite which stands about 15 ft tall and is is bullet or phallic shaped. There are 4, 5, or 6 smaller headstones indicating individual family member graves below this giant penis. The husband passed away first and I have often wondered if Mrs Ahern had this monument constructed in testimony to Mr Ahern's husbandly attributes.

Word Choice

"erection began in 1889, climax of the operation was achieved in 1890...holds 250,000 gallons when fully turgid." This is an encyclopedia, we could do with a little less innuendo, for a more serious treatment of the subject. • the turgid part is fine to kill, but erected is the correct word here, and the fact that is may lead to innuendo is really irrelevant. I don't remember the wikipedia rule that says "avoid innuendo when using words to describe things accurately"- JJJ999 (talk) 00:09, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
