Talk:Morrisonville, Louisiana

The initial article presents a negative perception of one company's actions regarding the effects of industrial production on the local community, then states later an 80-mile area with facilities belonging to numerous companies face similar environmental issues. Did any other company take similar action? Language concerning "forced depopulation," (i.e. bullying town residents into relocating)and avoiding lawsuits could be revised for a more neutral POV.Palmtreedream (talk) 13:01, 22 February 2010 (UTC)palmtreedream, 02-22-2010Reply

Indeed it could; however, it's all there in the published sources, as noted in the Refs, and I've not exaggerated it or edited for effect, just done a précis and reworded slightly. In fact I left quite a lot out. The one company's detrimental effect was on this one community. Several other communities were indeed badly affected in the 80-mile corridor, by other companies. But this article is about this specific community and its extinction. There is a redlink there in the article for the "Chemical Corridor", an article waiting to be written which might give a more optimistic view of the region, but it seems that the later soubriquet of "Cancer Alley" is the one that stuck. I'm removing the POV tag - the one person who queried the point is no longer a user and the person who responded to the then user appears to me to have a reasonable point. Sitush (talk) 16:28, 7 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
