Moratorium is not a good idea. It causes prices on goods to become higher. When prices are higher demand becomes lower and then theres no sale. If Disney wants to sell then they should stop the use of moratorium. This unsiged comment was posted by a user whose IP address is/was 207.73.253.147.
Brilliant... it's not as straightforward as your simple logic would have it. With higher prices come higher profits. Let's say i could make a car at a cost to me of $1. I could sell it for $2 and make double what i spent. or i could sell it for $10,000. demand would be less but i would still make a lot more than i put in. it's a balancing act. if i sold my cars for $1,000,000 demand would practically be zero. I have heard something about how Eisner was the guy behind the idea of the "Disney Vault" but somehow it seems to have predated him; for most of my life there have been periodic rereleases to theaters of the best Disney movies such as Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and even (I think) The Aristocats. This is because Disney's marketing research showed that there was more or less a new 'generation' of kids every seven years; after seven years, most of the target audience for their films was now either too young to remember the prior release or hadn't even been born yet. This was just carried over to the VHS and then the DVD market. Other filmmakers have just followed this lead, realizing that price is a function of supply and demand and that by limiting the supply demand for the product can be kept up and that the potential profits from this system far exceed those from a few extra, highly discounted tail-end sales. - Hey, instead of just removing the "unreferenced" tag, how about providing us with a reference? Also "Consumers do not like Moratorium", although unquestionably true, is quite POV nonetheless and probably should only be included if it is a quote from a referenceable source.
