What town or city?
editWhat municipality is this populated place part of? It is near Rangeley, Maine, but I can't tell whether Mooselookmeguntic is within Rangeley's boundaries. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 23:48, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
- very late reply, but, so far as i know, New England just doesnt do that whole "town within a town" thing that you might be familiar with from the rest of the US (and maybe Canada). Mooselookmeguntic is not big enough to have town status, I imagine, but neither is it part of any other town. That said, I will look into this, as I'd have expected to at least see a census entry if this were an independent settlement. —Soap— 08:31, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
- Okay I probably should have done my research ... this is obviously not a town. Google Maps places it squarelylol within the town of Rangeley, and my old-fashioned road atlas, which lists even the very smallest towns along with unpopulated townships, makes no mention of Mooselookmeguntic as a place. Neither does it appear on the map of the area around the lake. If this settlement has any legal existence at all, it's of a type I don't know about, and the unusual name makes me wonder if it's being promoted as a tourist attraction. —Soap— 08:42, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
