Release in the US

The wait is over my brothers, Monster Hunter 3 is upon us. Very soon (as in months) Monster Hunter 3 is coming out. So today I thought I'd take a stroll on down to the Gamestop in Durant OK. I thought to myself, "There's no hamr in just checking to see if the game will be coming soon." so I walkede over to the book that contains all the listings for games to become available to buy in the next year. Slowly, I flip the pages, turning toward the Wii games section. And there I saw it, in plain day. The words, "Monster Hunter 3....................3-30-10". I was so excited that I almost crapped myself right there. I'm a veteren of Monster Hunter Freedom and every game they've made up until now. I'm HR9 on Unite. Me and my bros in Oklahoma owned Unkanlos several times at the end of last summer. I've been waiting ever since Monster Hunter Freedom 2 came for this game to come out and now it's nearly, finally here. I'm positive I (or any of you) will be dissapointed in the least with this game. Game title

According to IGN, the English title of the game is just Monster Hunter 3. The tri~ should be dropped, as that is just for the Japanese logo. 150.101.144.161 13:37, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Friend Codes?

I've read somewhor (cannot remember source) that the online component of Monster Hunter 3 will not use Friend Codes (Hey, it's possible; Medal of Honor Heroes 2 doesn't use them). Can anyone confirm or deny this? --BPM (talk) 22:15, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

There is no mention of friend codes nessecary for online play for the Wii. Although there may be a monthly fee of Wii points to play.Check this site for more details.[1]

About release to NA

There is a line in this article: The game is set to be released in both Japan and North America, in early 2009.

There is an expansion pack for monster hunter freedom 2, though, monster hunter freedom unite. Coming out 26 June 2009 in Europe.

Not coming to America

A Capcom employee on the Capcom-Unity board confirmed that Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) will not be released in America. Furthermore, the source for the US release date even says that it was not confirmed for America by Capcom in any way. I have no clue why it was even listed. I brought it up because you mentioned Capcom-Unity first. It doesn't really matter, it's not as if the article makes any unsourced claims to expect a worldwide release. I just find it odd that both Capcom's Japanese and North American markets would mention the game if it was intended to be exclusive to Japan. Wii Speak Compatibility?

If this game supports online multiplayer, are they going to allow Wii Speak to be used? Or would you have to somehow type to each other? It doesn't mention anything about it so I'm guessing it doesn't have that function? 77.96.95.251 (talk) 02:15, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

I will begin the Gameplay, however I do not have access to any sites from work that I can make reference to and it is all directly from the game. Please don't crucify me for mistakes in grammer and stuff like that just fix them. I'll provide the base block for other people to build off of.

Also I'm not gonna post it because I don't feel it's relevant but the basic plot for anyone who does wanna look it up and post it is (in single player) a small fishing town is ravaged by an earthquake which is later detailed to be a giant monster. --  Grimbear13 ►Talk  15:17, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Agreed, the single player campaign's storyline is so easily explained that it doesn't really need its own section of the article. A few sentences saying how Lagiacrus is causing trouble for Moga Village and your hunter arrives to stop it can go in the lead of the article, but if the plot is given its own section, it'll just be a stub with little area for expansion. Not to be a spoiler, but it's not the Lagiacrus who's causing the damages. But please build off what I've started on the gameplay section. If I find other differences as I play through the online I'll add them. Ah, I haven't had as much time as I'd like to play through the game, but I picked it up on launch date and am slowly progressing through it. The article's pretty good so far. Release Date

The first paragraph says:

"Monster Hunter Tri was released on April 20, 2010 in North America, Europe, and Australia."

While the info box says:

"JP August 1, 2009 NA April 20, 2010[1] EU April 23, 2010[2] AUS April 29, 2010[3]"

Boat Level 4

Its rare, but it can happen at random when your boat is level 3 so it may be possible to upgrade it again. Also, boats can be sent out to hunt monsters as opposed to just fish and treasure, not sure how though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.129.175.59 (talk) 18:01, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Both of those are random chances. The same as when they report that they predict a large haul from location X, they will announce that they have made temporary upgrades to the ships and "Are feeling good, maybe even good enough to take on a monster." From the vast amount of hours I've put into the game I have yet to see a permanent way to upgrade to allow these. Gameplay Section in need of help

A brief look-over of the Gameplay section for this game reveals some glaring flaws. It appears that it's just a collection of fragments left over from edit after edit as the page was undergoing updates. It has horrible flow while reading, inconsistant capitolization, reduntant information, etc.. Hey, no problem there. I can't knock you for something that you admit, and I would be willing to make the changes myself, but I am new to the game and can't in all good conscious make the changes when I'm not 100% sure of what I was writing. In all honesty, I don't think it was so much as any one person's lack of grammatical skill, it just appeared that as the section grew, reduntant and fragmented information got all tangled up in the section. Split tag

Someone added a split tag on the Monster Hunter Tri G section, without creating discussion. I personally think the section should remain as-is, until long enough to meet notability. I feel that Monster Hunter Tri G is not simply a remake of Tri. It is for a different console, adds new monsters as well as changes the online hub area. It can be compared to the difference between Monster Hunter 2 and Monster Hunter Freedom 2.213.67.17.243 (talk) 22:30, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

Monster Hunter Tri G is an expansion of Monster Hunter Tri. The information is 100% reliable, and if you looked at the image provided in the link, you can see that. If you read the post, you can see other information as well. Wii users don't use the Internet or networking features? Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Call of Duty: World at War, Modern Warfare, Black Ops, and Modern Warfare 3, Excitebots: Trick Racing, Animal Crossing, Endless Ocean, to name some Wii games with online multiplayer. If you don't have a Wii, you are changing an edit based on your opinion, not based on facts? If you didn't read the information posted, you are editing based on your opinion, not the provided facts? The image shows the play-time for both Monster Hunter Tri and for Super Smash Bros. Brawl, that supports this claim 100%. The information in the blog posts comes from the official Wii Nintendo Channel. Kotaku, Capcom, GoNintendo, Destructoid, GameInformer, etc., have all linked to stories from the blog, some sites to multiple stories, one to all data stories. The most played is clearly stated as "Per person" which the image in the linked report shows. It clearly shows the time for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and for Monster Hunter Tri. Monster Hunter Tri is above Super Smash Bros. Brawl (and still is). Directly from the link you keep removing, and "In the 154 days since Monster Hunter Tri released, its average play-time per person has now passed that of Super Smash Bros. Brawl's." and "Monster Hunter Tri currently has a 24 minute higher game-play average "per person", than Super Smash Bros. Brawl does." Please read, and look at the information provided, before removing.

Article consistency for Capcom Games

I don't quite get why Monster Hunter expansion games do not get their own Article in Wikipedia, while the likes of Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds gets their own Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 page. 121.54.29.72 (talk) 13:14, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

I am opening discussion on merging Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate into Monster Hunter Tri. Currently the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate article is just content a user cut and pasted from the Monster Hunter Tri article. I don't see much reason for two separate article as English language websites only really covered the Ultimate version. as there isn't much distinction between the 2 titles. That's seems unintuitive when Monster Hunter Tri is the original game and Ultimate is a expanded version of it. It makes more sense to summarise the expanded content in a section than to summarise content not available in a previous iteration of the game. Furthermore I was wrong anyway, Tri does have coverage on English sites. I was getting mixed up with MH4 which didn't get released in English territories. Amended my initial proposal. (Wii U) Showing up on Two Lines

Worldwide release of the Wii U version

For clarity, the initial text should explicitly mention that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U was released worldwide (Japan first and NA/EU/AU later).
